No Man's Sky - Switch release due on 7th October

I've been waiting for a reboot for Elite for years so No Man's Sky seems perfect. I'm surprised about how good it looks coming from such a small team so I'm wondering about how much scope it can have. Can a procedurally generated universe be fulfilling? I just mean if there is no narrative structure or overarching design to the game might this turn out to be a series of fun but isolated events?

A lot of us have been waiting for that Elite reboot (or Elite 4) for nigh on 20 years.

I say Elite because they are loosely the same open world/universe exploration genre that I want to play. I pledged money to the Elite Dangerous Kickstarter but my computers are a MacBook Air and low end PC laptop so not sure how well they could run the game. Also landing on planets won't be a launch feature. So potentially NMS is more accessible to me on my PS4.

I think the best thing about seeing No Man's Sky first at the VGAs and then as one of the main E3 announcements from Sony is that there is still a belief in these type of ambitious projects.

According to this http://www.gamespot.com/e3/samsung-stage-1-2014/ (click on the 'E3 Live' button along the orange/grey strip) NMS will be on the Samsung Stage in around 7 hours time along with a bunch of other games.

Just occurred to me, how awesome would it be if Sony demoed No Man's Sky on Project Morpheus?

I am pretty certain that Microsoft have locked that down as a console exclusive.

I remember seeing a tweet from Shahid saying something along the lines of, 'just lost out on one of the most interesting games'.

Feels like ages since they made the announcement (thanks to that strawberry floating Dairy Milk Sony guy ), but if I recall correctly, the way it was worded was that it would launch on consoles on PS4 first. So PC will get it at same time and XB1 some time down the line. That was my take on it anyway.

If someone can upload the NMS E3 2014 segement with Sean Murray talking that would be great.

Really like the look of this, caveated with 'so what is the gameplay like' as others have said.

Be cool if this was an RPG/FPS mixed with xcom/freespace style space combat. Hell, I'd even take a remake in the style of the old yager on xbox.... Lots of fun with that.
