I really miss the days of ridiculous discounts in Steam sales.

Those days gave birth to some great Gabe memes. The golden era.

The XCOM Ultimate Bundle is <£15 which is a pretty heft discount. XCOM2 has been on my wishlist for a good seven years at this point, but I'm scarred by the number of >90% misses in XCOM. It's like an anti-Fire Emblem 7.

I'm going to have another playthrough of it at some point as after nearly 500 hours I still haven't actually finished it.

Yeah, multiple people being able to use the same library at the same time is a pretty significant improvement.

There are rumours that Microsoft may be making the next xbox a platform for others to build on and make versions of so will use more PC like hardware.

What hardware is affordable by next Christmas for a machine I'd assume will be around the £500 range?

Will we see multiple tiers so maybe a cheap, medium and expensive version or would that just confuse everyone?
I'd love a new Neo Geo (I wasn't blessed with one of these dream machines) style hyper console but would anyone but me bother buying it?

Are PC gamers even interested in a console/pc hybrid?

They sold literally hundreds of those so I'm calling that a huge win overall.

So MS does Steam Deck basically, which is far more likely.

Given that an Xbox/PC hybrid would almost certainly be just a pre-specced PC with the Xbox OS bolted on top I could live with that. Especially if you still had desktop access and could add non-xbox games.

A system that could access the libraries of multiple stores natively and present them all in a nice controller friendly manner is the dream for me. Steam Deck has come closest but its not quite there. Still a bit too hacky for primetime.

I do think MS are heading in a similar direction.

That's what the rumours seem to be saying but I could be completely wrong.
If you can get an xbox branded machine that can also download and play steam games that would be pretty great.

How that would work in reality I have no idea and if it would mean some kind of monster payment from Microsoft to steam or something like that.

Nvidia now more valuable than Apple

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6ppqd3j621o

Nvidia value surges past $3tn and overtakes Apple

Nvidia's market value has surged past $3tn (£2.3tn), lifting the chip giant ahead of Apple to become the second most valuable publicly listed company in the world.

The firm's share price rose more than 5% on Wednesday, to more than $1,224.

It extended a breathtakingly rapid climb that started last year, powered by bets that the US firm is positioned to be a major winner from a wave of investment in artificial intelligence (AI).

Its market value now sits just behind Microsoft, another key player in the industry thanks to its investments in Chat GPT-maker OpenAI.

Valued at "just" $2tn as recently as February, Nvidia sparked a new wave of share purchases after it announced plans last month for a so-called stock split.

The move will increase the number of shares by a factor of 10 and reduce their value accordingly, a change aimed at making shares more affordable to small-time investors.

Set to happen on Friday, it is expected to generate even more demand for the stock.

Founded in 1993, Nvidia was originally known for making the type of computer chips that process graphics, particularly for computer games.

Long before the AI revolution, it started adding features to its chips that it says help machine learning - all of which has helped it increase its market share.

It is now seen as a key company to watch to see how fast AI-powered tech is spreading across the business world, a shift boss Jensen Huang has declared the dawn of the "next industrial revolution".

His company has seen explosive growth, reporting sales of $26bn in the three months to 28 April - more than triple the same period in 2023, and up 18% from the previous three month.

Optimism about AI is one of the forces behind a broader market rally over the last year, which pushed the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq in the United States to new records on Wednesday.

Apple had appeared to be losing out earlier this year as sales growth stalled.

But in recent weeks, its shares have been buoyed by anticipation over how it plans to incorporate AI into its own strategy.

Shares in the firm rose 0.7%, giving it a market capitalisation of roughly $3tn, which is generally calculated by multiplying the number of shares in a company by its current share price.

Finally, some good news for the shareholders. I was getting worried for them for a moment.
