You guys are lame, it's a really lovely touch and sheds a little more light on some vague details of the story.

I gotta say, some of those are rubbish

Namely the fourth wallpaper. Photoshop disaster. The others are good for the most part, like the second/third ones are excellent. And I like the second from last, has a retro graphic feel.

So I'm plodding through this and it's all a bit meh so far. Can't see why everyone rates it so highly

im 26% through just reached flooded subway after Tess was shot in the Capitol building after 4 hrs play and have noticed few irritating things:
- the AI is gooseberry fool. The amount of time Clickers dont notice anyone else right next to them even when the NPC is moving is amazing. Ive seen clickers climb over them and not see them. The SWAT Team who storm the Capitol building are useless. They know I'm there but walk around with their backs towards me half the time even though I cant possibly have moved without being seen so they should know exactly where I am
the girl (Ella?) Cant swim apparently so she tells me. How come then that at the flodded subway just after Capitol building does she appear close to me after I've swum 100-200 mtrs?

just not feeling the love for this. Someone tell me when I can expect it to get better please

For about the millionth time in this thread: Tess and Ellie don't appear to enemies because the designers thought it would be annoying if you got found out through no fault of your own. It's not the AI being stupid.

In the flooded subway there's a path for Ellie to walk on next to where you swim.

I think you've played some great moments already but the best is yet to come, the next chapter in particular Bill's Town is excellent. Make sure you're looking for the collectables as well (even if you need to use a guide so you're not mindlessly hunting) as they add a lot of depth to the world and have some great stories within them.

Also, if you think the AI is bad then put the god damn difficulty up.

I think everyone will agree that Winter is probably the best chapter by far.

ND absolutely made the right call in having your AI partners be invisible to the enemy. It would be infuriating having to restart a section as your AI partner messed up. I don't get why people don't see that.

I feel some people come into this game wanting to hate it due to the praise it's got, because it's cool to hate on highly praised things these days.

It's phenomenal from start to finish and if you don't see that, it's your loss.

yeah. And once the enemies are alerted they still go after your partners. It's just the enemies can't see them when you are in stealth because otherwise it would be incredibly annoying.

It wasn't phenomenal at the start, it does take some time to get going.

I thought the opening was one of the best openings to a game I've played in years. I was sucked right in from there.

So there was a woman I fancied and she's in to movies and I just wonder is The Last Of Us is a game that one could confidently sit down and play with a partner?

Anyone here play this game in the presence of a girlfriend and felt fine about it? Did they get in to it?

I tried to get my girlfriend to play it and she was terrible at it

but I think it's the kind of game you could play with a partner watching if they are interested in it.
Show her a trailer or something. It's a bit long to watch someone play if you're not totally into it.

My daughter loves it and we've watched the cutscenes as a whole movie twice. It's great. i think women identify well with the well written female characters.

Forgive me for not reading 120 pages of a thread for a game ive only recently bought! Especially as its a strawberry floating story driven game that doubtless has been spoilered!

If the AI cant be applied to the girls to hide properly then thats lazy programming. This game is supposedly GOTY. The fact that my assistants are hidden to the clickers until I do something wrong takes me out of the immerserve (supposedly) atmosphere.
I want to enjoy this game but frankly its a disappointment so far.

I wouldn't call it 'lazy programming', absolutely not. Imagine how infuriating it would be if the AI continually gave away your location. It's smart game design.

It's mentioned on page 120.

It's hardly lazy programming, it may sound simple but I bet something like that would have been ridiculously complex to actually get working 100% of the time.
