Slott going into meltdown mode there yet again  :dread:

Interestingly Slott didn't even script this final issue, Gage did. Slott just came up with the story.

EDIT: Found his reasoning for the plothole:

Just to end this (because it's silly)...

Everything you need is in ASM #700 and SSM #30.

ASM #700 establishes that there's a link between the two of them (the moment they both have the Uncle Ben alarm clock moment).

Pete thinks: "I MAY need a direct link for a full transfer, but a link still exists."

Why does he say "may"?

Because when he had the octobot attached to himself, he fought it. And that didn't help. That's why he thinks he needed a direct link.

On the very next page, Peter has "his entire life flashing before his eyes"...
...and that is the upload he's going to send to Ock.

He's sending him EVERYTHING, but he's fighting Doc on the key moments-- those that REALLY define him as Spider-Man-- and doing everything in his power to make sure that those specific moments in the lifetime montage strike home.
(For the sake of argument, let's say those are 31 key memories).

And, again, Doc Ock FIGHTS AGAINST THIS THE ENTIRE TIME.

In SSM #30, when PETER is reliving all of Doc Ock's life (and losing his sense of self as he gets overwhelmed by Doc's memories)...
...he reaches full circle. He's now at the moment in ASM #700 where Peter/Ock is having HIS life flash before his eyes and he's uploading that to Doc/Spidey.

At THAT point, we're in Doc's head (as is the SSM #30 version of Peter). Doc fights against the upload. But the SSM #30 version of Peter-- getting one "taste" of it, realizes that THAT is his life-- so he DOESN'T fight it. He welcomes it ALL in. He takes back ALL of ASM #700's-life-flashing-before-his-eyes-Peter's memories. And SSM #30-Peter gets it all back.

Basically, it's a nested-file.

It's an all-or-nothing DL of all the memories-- nested in a memory Doc Ock has.

For the nitpickers who want a reason why Doc didn't access THAT:
Either Doc Ock DIDN'T know it was there-- OR he knew that if he tried that strategy, he'd basically be doing a "factory reset" on ALL of Parker's memories and he'd be up for round two on the psychic plane.
(And, let's be honest, how well has Doc EVER done on Round Twos against Spider-Man?).
And, if you were Doc, would you risk doing ANY kind of "factory reset" on your brain?

Since these are the sum-and-total life memories of Peter/Ock from ASM #700, only those all-or-nothing files COULD have had the "Carlie shooting at me" memory.

But, if you're Carlie Cooper, and someone says, "I'm Peter Parker. Doc Ock and I swapped, but now I've swapped back."-- logically, the memories Peter had AFTER the swap AS Ock would be ones that "person" wouldn't have UNLESS there was some kind of a "swap-back."
It works. If you need me to, I can draw you a chart. :-)
(There was one line of dialogue that was cut from that scene to make space. It went "C'mon, Carlie. You're one of the smartest people I know. Think it through." I liked that line, 'cause it also praised Carlie's intelligence, something Ock wouldn't do. But... it really crowded that panel up.)

Superior Spidey #31 was so crap.

I'm so glad I'm off this book now and no longer reading anything by Slott. Superior was a great ride, but it looks like it's essentially going to be no more than a "elseworld's" tale that marvel experimented with for a year or so. The reset button got pushed big time just to tie in with the movie. Goblin's identity was a joke.

I'm totally fed of up of Slott's writing style (and his pathetic actions online) and the fact half of his work is fobbed off to Gage.

Also I've had no internet since Friday. The new Grayson book is such a strawberry floating gooseberry fool idea, I wish Didio got his wish and he died. Eurgh.

Yeah, they've had a big network outage in the midlands that I know of added to the fact before that they was a local outage in my area. Massive strawberry float up. The engineer that fixed it told my dad that he should leave ASAP as virgin media are promising super fast speeds and upgrading people yet they don't have the capacity too and it's slowly blowing up in their faces :dread: :dread:

My internet was down completely for like a week a few months back, I think I actually prefer that to how it is now. I've just tried using an ethernet cable and my Steam download speed has gone from 300KB/s to 6.8 MB/s. I need to track down my old wifi router which actually worked, can't have an ethernet cable going across half the house.

On-topic: I almost bought Fables Deluxe Vol 2 today but I should probably finish 1 first which I'm loving. Has anyone read Kirkman's Invincible? The first compendium is like £25 on Speedyhen.

Yeah considering the rather excellent build up, SSM #31 was such a massive damp squid

Tbh the bit where Goblin realised who he was really fighting was good - but everything else just felt so lack luster. What a crap "pay off" to 30 issues of build up.

Oh yeah those two panels were great but it's somewhat telling that the worst issue of Superior was the one without Otto.

Uncanny X-Men seems to be back on track. Really enjoyed this issue. I might start picking these up in trade for the collection.

I read some SSM #31 spoilers and genuinely thought it was a wind up. Sounds like Bendis wrote it or some gooseberry fool

I'm 19 pages into Superior and laughing my ass off, but not for any reasons that are positive

EDIT: Christ that was bad, especially the MJ epilogue. They didn't just get rid of the main element of superior, they reverted everything it did good

I've read Invincible and I really like it. Very Ultimate Spider-Man in tone. Its quite throwaway, but compelling reading none the less.

I was reading the spoiler thread on CBR and it said the cuckoos reveal that Maria Hill is attracted to Cyclops, is that true?

Yeah, that was a bit stupid. I just took it as a throwaway comment and moved on. Although in fairness, he is a bit sexy. :slol:

Third weekly DC book announced. :simper:

The third DC Comics weekly has a name, and as suspected, deals with an alternate earth. Earth 2: World's End (While Nerdist reported the title both with and without the apostrophe, DC Comics confirmed the apostrophe is there and before the s) will launch in October 2014, after every title in the New 52 fast-forwards for a Futures End tie-in in September. Newsarama first confirmed the series was in the works in February.

The announcement was made by DC Comics on Nerdist.com Thursday morning, alongside the creative team for the series.

Tom Taylor and Paul Levitz, who currently write Earth 2 and Worlds’ Finest (which deals with the multiverse-displaced Huntress and Power Girl) are joined by Daniel H. Wilson, Marguerite Bennet, and Mike Johnson on writing duties. Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Stephen Segovia, Paulo Siqueira, and Tyler Kirkham are the rotating artists for the weekly series.

Oh god, bleeding cool called it weeks ago but still :dread:

There is already spoilering on that teaser image if you haven't been reading Earth 2 as well :fp:

Not a fan of the new team, it's basically the same as injustice now because it was a surprise hit and it's now written by the same guy. Wonder if all these wars between the earths is leading to the first new 52 Crisis.

This is going to be the weirdest review ever but I really like the way they draw hair in Ms Marvel.

Catching up on all the comic news I missed, I've just seen this:

Hawkeye #19, #20, #21 Jumps In Price From $2.99 To $3.99

Slippages again :fp: if 21 hadn't been announced as finale part 1 I'll probably would be dropping this. Supposedly Fraction has said #22 is the last issue.

The $2.99 book is dead.
