Yeah, last night was just fantastic.
Really glad I got sitting tickets in the end. Was sat full on center stage, amazing view. I would say they're much more of a visual band now and the music they chose last night going by the setlist would suggest that too, imo. Just wanted to take it all in. Biggest songs that got the place going were 'The Hand that Feeds You' and 'Head Like a Hole'. 'Head like a Hole' really stood out for me, the album version sounds a bit dated but live you would have thought it was made yesterday. Infact most of the show I was thinking just how forward thinking Trent is as his music hasn't dated one bit.
Awesome they played stuff like 'The Frail' and a whole alot from Downward Spiral. The newer stuff was definitely more about the visuals which were just amazing. Probably the best I've seen from a live band. At first I was thinking 'this light show is great but where are the great visuals I've been hearing about'? Then boom. 'Find My Way' had them all in silhouettes, with this eerie blue glaze behind them with smoke bellowing from the sides. Such a great atmosphere.
This is the setlist I thought everyone gets but seems to change slightly from show to show;
Me, I'm Not
Copy of A
1,000,000
March of the Pigs
Piggy
The Frail
The Wretched
The Becoming
Gave Up
Sanctified
(with Sunspots riff)
Closer
Find My Way
Disappointed
Came Back Haunted
The Great Destroyer
Eraser
Wish
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Encore:
The Day the World Went Away
Hurt
If I had to say disappoints is with the songs that they didn't play as in 'We're in this Together Now', 'Into the Void', and 'Discipline'. 'Into the Void' especially was I would have thought that would fit right in. Oh well, maybe next time
