So true. Love the fact that headshots send them on a rampage.

I've yet to read the review but I'm surprised at such a negative reaction from RPS.

So, gave this another hour or so last night.

Still not impressed. I'm having nowhere near as much trouble with it as the RPS lot, but I'm still not getting the appeal. The combat is like a shitey Gears/ME ripoff (the similarity to Gears is especially flagrant) with hugely underpowered weapons and that annoying as strawberry float aim-jerk when you get hit. The environments have improved somewhat, I do like the look of the slums, but it's not enough to stop the overall aesthetic feeling samey and bland.

The characters are, to a man (or woman) awful. Dan is a twat. A misogynistic twat. Faye's introduction and his reaction to her was enough to put me off the character for good, which eroded much of the desire to give the game a chance. I'm also enjoying the borderline homophobic responses from male characters when the voice command system thinks I've said "Love you." Which it does. A lot.

There's the hint of a decent story starting to emerge but I don't know if I can put up with the rest of it. I'm going to give it one more go this evening.

Got this through the post. Shopto

Will get stuck into it later.

So far game of the year for me is Mass effect and Darkness 2. I have feeling this will be right up there with them.

Why did Sega think it was a good idea to have a Jetski stage? :fp:

Well this is quite good.

Rock solid shooting mechanics, interesting universe and a very well presented story with some surprisingly sharp dialogue at times. Love how the robots break apart too.

Worst bit of the game by a distance. It's not so much that it's a jetski stage as the fact that the jetskis handle terribly. Thankfully, it's very brief.

No-one like admitting they're wrong. It's not nice. But I am, or rather was.

Just finished this and I loved it. What started as a fiddly and completely unpolished port of what I believed to be a middle of the road third-person shooter transformed into something far more interesting. What were hugely underpowered weapons and bland enemies became extremely effective rooty-shooty-bang-bangs and foes that felt great to mow down. The story, although borrowing heavily from Blade Runner, was interesting and the characters were rounded and likeable.

So yes, I was wrong. But I'm glad I was.

Ah, good man. Glad you ended up enjoying it. It is quite a slow starter, in fairness, though the only bits I really didn't like were the short jetski section and the battle in the warehouse with the gorilla robot. The story has been done before, but it's told quite well, and some of the cutscenes - the one with the hollow child in the slums in particular - are surprisingly powerful.

It's never a question of being good enough or not. It's about whether it exists.

I'm sure I'm just a strawberry floating idiot. But the parts with homing missiles in this game make me want to kick a puppy.

What the strawberry float are you meant to do?!

There's literally no way of not getting hit. Especially if there are normal enemies as well. It's chaos.

Also, the boss battles in this game are a bit gooseberry fool. Sure the robots are cool. But quite often it's. Shoot pointlessly at the boss until your team tells you how to take it down and/or leads you to a rocket launcher.

Boss battles are a little tedious, I agree.

For anyone who finished it; how many chapters are there? I'm on Chapter 5 at the moment and want to get it wrapped up before Diablo III so I can trade it.

Some of them are quite fun but I found myself getting frustrated with others and feeling like they went on for too long.
