Think I'll give the AW1 challenge campaign up. Mission 16 must be near impossible - it's so difficult building a decent enough force while stopping Sonja from taking 16 properties.

Tried a dozen times; one time I got reasonably close to having a force and holding the line, and still failed.

i still haven't started the challenge campaign yet, waiting to finish up the last few missions of advance wars 2 before tackling it.

In true AW style, I went away for a bit then came back to it and completed it with an S rank. I'll be amazed if I finish this campaign though. It's punishingly tough.

Easily plowed through the rest up to challenge mission 23. This is my favourite AW1 campaign map, is beautifully balanced if you play it right. Holding centre ground while holding off air and sea, trying to make tiny gains each turn. Brilliant.

I've gone back to this to finish the second campaign. It's so absorbing once you get into a battle and the time absolutely flies by.

It's a real shame it didn't sell well as I would love for this series to become a system regular again. I think they should have probably released it at a cheaper price really.

Played this loads on release. Did the AW1 campaign and then got an S rank on all the maps in the War Room.

Started the AW2 campaign but dropped it after a while. Anyone else agree the campaigns are not that good? War room is where it's at. That said - I should finish it.

I think AW2's campaign is really good. I haven't finished it yet but it mixes things up more than 1st.

By the way S rank on all the maps in the War Room is very impressive!

Agree it mixes things up a bit. Think that's what's put me off though. Think I prefer the simplicity of the first.

Some (most) of them took me a lot of attempts!

Think you can also do the War room maps with the AW2 approach - different stages of the power bar etc so should get the campaign done so I can start on them.
