Press Release

Show Your True Colors

Splatter enemies and claim your turf as the ink-spewing, squid-like characters called Inklings in Nintendo's new third-person action shooter game for the Wii U console. Challenge your friends in chaotic four-on-four matches, in which the goal is to get your ink on as many places as possible and claim your turf, all while strategically submerging yourself in your team's colors and blasting your enemies. This is a colorful and chaotic online third-person action shooter – exclusively on Wii U.*

FEATURES:

Team up and take on other teams in an action-filled battle to cover the level with as much ink as possible. Spray walls to access hard-to-reach areas.

Covering more territory with ink unlocks powered-up super weapons that can be used to attack rivals or cover more turf.

Strategy is everything. Defeat enemies to splatter them in an explosion of ink, covering more turf for your team. But choose wisely: Players who only go after the enemy might find their turf redecorated in their enemies' colors.
Refill ink tanks, hide from opponents or move faster by turning into a squid and diving into the ink with the tap of a button.

Select between multiple control options on the Wii U GamePad controller, including using gyroscopic controls to look around, allowing for better aiming and control.

Hop online and battle in four-on-four matches.

One of the most interesting concepts of E3 for me.

Looks like a ton of fun.

The swim mechanic is lovely but don't think it'll hold my interest for long. It does look fun to play though the way the guy was moving with the gamepad.. I'm assuming no local co-op? That would be great.

It does look like a lot of fun to play, the swimming thing is great but I'm not convinced on it as an online-only game on a platform with no voice comms.

Is this an eShop or full retail title? I'll check it out for a tenner.

Has it been confirmed to be online only? The information only mentions online as it's the games focus, but the first post information doesn't specifically say online only.

Unless we are told something different I'd assume its a fully featured full price retail game.

Also why are assuming there are no voice comms?

We know very little about the game remember, it's bound to have other modes beyond what we're seeing

Number of reasons, the main one being that it's on a Nintendo console (family safe) and the biggest online game (Monster Hunter) doesn't use it either, a game that is not aimed at a younger audience like this one.

Also, Mario Kart doesn't have voice chat either, just stupid friendly sentences you can send in the lobby.

I would like local split-screen multiplayer and I would hope that Nintendo offer that in the game.

This does look fantastic though, when I heard that Nintendo had a squid based online shooter coming out I wasn't expecting much but the trailer and developer comments made it look really good and I'm hoping it will turn out well. Doesn't look like a full-retail game to me based on the content we've been shown so far. Maybe if its fleshed out more though.

Oh, I meant from a single player perspective. Yeah, I hope there is offline play for multiplayer.

I wonder if they might try a different revenue option with this a la Rusty's Real Deal or Steel Divers (or TF2 I guess).
