I just got an email through from VW, telling me Im entitled to some free 'ensurance' thing.

Basically, if I have an accident, I ring them instead of my insurance and they sort it out, get me a proper courtesy car and they'll take care of the repairs.. For free.

Interesting. Just signed up but will probably avoid having to try it out.

Just watched something on the Koenigsegg one:1, it quite interesting so I thought I would link it in case anyone else was interested.

In this case, it's something the government organizes to try to keep the roads open in wintry conditions. Usually because the conditions don't allow for traffic (safely) going both ways at the same time, but this time the conditions were at times so bad that we had about 1 meter visibility.
I know this, because up here, the roads where there's a lot of snow have stakes planted alongside them (to help the snow-plough drivers see where the road is supposed to be), and they only came into view when they were about 1 meter away from us. :dread:

My Cooper S is coming to the end of its life I fear.

I would quite like a Scirroco, but they don't exist in this stupid country. So I'm currently leaning towards a Golf R or a 235i.

I've got to get my car changed ASAP, relying on lifts all the time is a nightmare. Fed up of being a passenger in my own car.
Could it be the way you drive and the kind of journeys you are doing? 55 is going to be in optimal conditions, I would imagine if manufacturers figures are 55, you'll struggle to get more than 45.

Yes?

There's a good mix between short and long(ish). When I drove it I was getting 43, but now it's usually the thirties. I looked at it today and it's 32. What da hell.

Saw this while walking home, basically my car but in blue with tinted windows...

I've never been one for tints but after seeing this I think I may re-consider.

That's what my Type R averages! Having checked that honest website falsey listed Honda are actually truthful about its mpg. One of the few cars that does what they claim.

Nothing wrong with owning an mx-5. Great handling for such a cheap car.

Why wouldnt it be?

Its essentially VW acting as a claims management company. And they get all the monies spent on repairs.

Mazda do the same with their cars.

Never had to ring them to be honest.
