As I've managed to log in, this is the closest yet I've come to registering. I'll keep you all posted on these exciting developments.

My username is something like fiveninesuited

I've literally only ever used that account twice, both times to buy Goliath seats.

No, I turned up late and my real name was on the screens. Nobody used nicknames.

I didn't have to register. I just walked in, looked at the screen to see where I seated, and sat at my table.

As far as I know they usually plan it to coincide with the August bank holiday.

Dark Rich, have you been able to get to the casino yet to get a taste of live play before the Goliath? I would seriously recommend it.

I remember the first time I played a live tournament; I was so out of sync and generally quite bad. Not in terms of playing hands badly or anything, just the general stuff like remembering who was in what position, posting blinds/antes, remembering my stack size, converting that to big blinds etc. I was fortunate enough to make it quite deep (finished 4th IIRC) but the poor dealer was getting quite annoyed having to ask me for my blinds and antes all the time.

These are just the sort of things you take for granted online, but live you actually have to think about them and remember. It doesn’t take long to pick it up but if you go in there next Friday I guarantee you 100% that people will be able to tell you have not really played live before (obviously not something you want to advertise).

How did you manage it in the end?

Do we have a team registered now? I assume you had my name. I'm back from holiday now so should be able to pop to casino and get in for Friday.

DR you can just get a lift with one of us. Where do you live in Cov? PM me postcode etc if you like.

I downloaded BlueSquare poker instead of the Grosvenor poker client as Gaz suggested on the last page.

BlueSquare is being nice enough to not let me reset my password due to a "technical error." We'll have more exciting news on this story as it comes.

I've tried to, but work's been hectic and my weekends have been packed (been working some overtime on some, if not all) and can't seem to sneak the time. I doubt I'll get to before hand which is a huge ballache, but I'll just have to try and observe as closely as possible and even if it makes me seem like the new player I am, just double check things with the dealer.

Yeah so Blue Square can't help me. Idiots.

Guess I'm gonna have to catch a bus into town to register and then get back on a bus again to come home. That'll be a couple of hours well spent.

(strawberry float buses.)

:x

It's a deep stack tournament so there'll be plenty of time to get to grips with it all, I wouldn't worry too much.

Goliath team is almost registered!

Here are the prizes we will be winning: http://www.grosvenorukpokertour.com/Goliath/Enter-Your-Team/

I've only had one suggestion for a team name, so unless anyone else is quick to offer something, we shall be known as team #rungood
