Beautiful console, which housed two of my favourite games of all time: Super Mario 64 and Zelda OOT.
I only recently completed OOT last christmas on the virtual console rather regrettably as i found the learning curve a little too steep for myself at the time, but seeing the ending finally was a joy. Seeing the ending of Twilight Princess first was also an opportunity to see how similar the two games are, even the endings mirror each others a bit!
My favourite game, however will always be super mario 64, playing it for the first time was an absolute joy, it was genious, i just had to keep playing it over and over again, and must have owned so many incarnations of it ranging from the n64 original, to the us original (to play in 60hz!), to the nintendo ds version, and more recently the virtual console release, but it stands the test of time so much.
It was possibly one of the only games i have owned that had to be completed to the max, even in gta3, a game which is in my top ten best games of all time did not get the max treatment (all hidden packages etc). I had to get every star and get to the top of the castle. I tried for days to get to the top of the castle using that triple jump technique, but to this very day have still not achieved this feat, but will one day!
Stunning, stunning console, one summer holidays me and my neighbours 4 player championships regularly and is probably the defining multiplayer moment in my gaming life, it beats the soulless online alternative anyday.
