I'm not a fan of push-ups for building strength since it's difficult to increment the weight in any way. At least with dumbells you have a systematic way of measuring your progress and you can start as light as you want and go as heavy as you want.

If we're talking about sheer strength, then isolation exercises are for little girls.

After being very, very ill this weekend I'm a lot better today. Think I'm going to move today's gym sesh to tomorrow though. Don't want to overdo it and be unable to workout for even longer.

Alright Mr Muscle.

If anyone's beginning Starting Strength I'd recommended exercises like tricep dips/ bicep curls. A few months after starting SS I found my arms looked really weedy compared to my torso so it took a while for my forearms to catch up after adding in extra exercises.

There's this Wichita Fall beginner's routine thing where you do chins instead of one lift per week which is probably good if you've got small arms.

Impressive! I'm still wreckage after an hour of cardio, but I'm trying to do at least an hour of something six days out of seven.

chino's that were skin tight (skinny 36inch) to the point of discomfort a month and a half ago = now a comfortable fit.

Good feeling - plus the fact all of my sets on machines are about 20kg heavier than they were. Gym  Ankle rehab  Plus the fact my ankle is taking it all beautifully about 4 days out of 5.

40 mins every other day 8-)

Anyone know of any good running shoes on a budget? My gym shoes are OLD, and I don't think that they have many miles left in them.

2km along the beach and then 10 sets of intervals on the big steps. 30 minutes brilliant work.

I get hand me downs off a mate so I can't help you there. I did get a pair of Nike Live Strong running shoes for about £80 a year ago that are still in working order after a lot of use - great shoes.

You've just reminded me that I got a pair of slim-fit 36inch Ted Baker jeans about a year ago that didn't fit, but I've lost a gooseberry fool ton of weight since then. Might try and find them when I get home to see how they look. :shifty:

Not long for me to go now until I hit the target I originally set myself back in November. Another couple of months and my belly might actually be gone for the first time. I can see huge differences in my arms, shoulders and legs as well - there is definition were once there was flab.

That's incredible, nice one mate.

On a similar note(and with a slightly longer period of time) I'm down 2.5 stone since the beginning of November.

That's strawberry floating awesome Cora!

I'd be down a lot more by now in general, but I keep slipping up here and there, in total though I'm down over 8 stone since I finished Uni.

Let us self-congratulate together! :D

That's an incredible loss though, must have taken supreme willpower to keep up your routine for an extended period of time.

Now that I'm sure my ankle can take it I'm adding running into my cardio regularly. 20mins on the cross trainer, 20mins on the rowing machine then a 20min run to finish off, or 20min on the cross trainer, 20min interval training on the bike and 20mins rowing. I don't tend to use any other machines.

o/ I can do about 15 minutes on the cross trainer before dying! I may be a 22 stone guy, but I can only go for so long! Although I do hold my own quite well on the rowing machine!
