It really pissed me off what they done with that in 4, The arm stuff actually made sense because of 3 after we learn The Sorrow (a medium) is his dad but they throw that to gooseberry fool and opt for boring old nano-machines and gene therapy.

I guess it all comes back to what Ocelot says about there being no such thing as the supernatural. But then how do they explain the sequence with The Sorrow in MGS3 or Psycho Mantis in MGS. Head trauma and coincidence? ¯\(°_o)/¯

Not too bad I guess, one or two odd point and click quirks. Very, very short. Hmmmm... not sure what to think. Its a good concept, but needs to be about 5x longer.

I finished MW3 yesterday and I'm not sure I enjoyed it all that much. It was as believable as me being named King of Moon Base Alpha and getting a 90% off at all Tesco's card and a game just needs slow bits to go with the epic set pieces.
I'm gooseberry fool at games like this so I had it on normal but at times it felt like I was being killed though no fault of my own and it became more a test of memory than skill.

5/10 maybe :? .

Resident Evil 5 - Played through it again quickly to S-rank all the levels and to grab some stuff I missed like figurines. I Played through Resi 4 recently and believed that to really show this in a negative light and its true. This game is really lacklustre and feels more like a 4.5 with added co-op and you can really tell this had a troubled and rushed development. The boss fights aren't as great, set pieces kind of suck (El Gigante being a turret battle being a particular wasted opportunity) and its very quickly paced in terms of atmosphere which sucks. My biggest problem is probably the pacing though as in Resi 4 you got a good sense of location and progression where in this it feels like I was going through a door in a village and emerge in a cave and then a lab etc etc....it's very jarring.

Still one of my most played games this gen I guess and with an actual person instead of AI its tits.

Also, Wesker

Resident Evil Revelations...
Enjoyably average. It feels like a fan-fiction Resi story, made as DLC for Resi 5. Only on a handheld. Mind you, it is quite lush to look it and plays very well. Lack of enemy variety proves tiresome and jarring time/location/character switching are two key weaknesses.
But like its bigger home console brethren, it plays out like a roller coaster... the ending seeming a million miles away from where things started.
All in all I enjoyed it and raid mode and Hell difficulty add to the package. As does staring at Jill Valentine's super shiny bottom in 3D

One of the common complaints about Resident Evil 5 is that it's too similar to Resident Evil 4 but it's the strange little differences with 4 that make it a worse game. First of all, getting rid of the merchant- who thought that was a good idea? He was a cult character and gave an in-story reason (slight though it was) for Leon acquiring new weapons. Who was Chris buying all those guns from in 5?

Related to that- Capcom unwisely went back to a version of the old Resi inventory system where each item took up one slot no matter how big it was. 4's Tetris like system where careful manipulation of your items enabled you to carry more added an extra layer of strategy.

The constant AI companion- 4 succeeded with Ashley as Capcom made the wise decision to keep each Ashley section brief. Each new kidnapping whether it was by a flying lizard man or a wall was immensely contrived (seriously Ashley runs to the only section of wall in the entire castle which has those trap bars) but it meant you weren't constantly looking after someone so you could enjoy the game. Even when she was with you though, Ashley was far smarter than Sheva. Ashley ducked if you pointed a gun at her and generally tried to stay away from enemies.

The saving system- Unless I missed something major, it wasn't possible in Resident Evil 5 to continue from where you left off in the middle of a chapter. I discovered this when I had to restart the entire of chapter 5-3 when I had previously stopped playing at the boss fight at the end. I was furious. While the typewriters in 4 didn't give you full freedom about when you saved, you had more choice than in 5. Plus they were a nice link to the old Resi games.

Typing all this has made me want to play number 4 again. It might well be my favourite video game ever.

See, I liked to stack weapons top to bottom, with pistol at the top and each weapon getting progressively larger, the Chicago Typewriter or Unlimited Launcher being the very bottom.

I loved organising my inventory in RE4. I was more than a little annoyed that they dicked about with it for 5.
