so who is the playing being paid 30 grand that they talked about.

Tal Ben Haim is the well documented one. It now transpires that Mokoena might also be on something similar which would be bizarre. Ben Haim definitely is - and suprise suprise, no one has wanted him for three years!

yeah i guess so, they must be on the old prem wages still, what about herman as well.

Herman went to Coventry - Lawrence and Kitson on roughly 20k each (shudder) - most others are well below the £10,000 - with many below £4,000 (Futacs, Ward, Henderson etc)

oh didnt even realise he left , what happened to ben haim though he was a good defender at one point and then just kept moving from team to team.

Hes not THAT bad, but hes is not worth anywhere near what we are paying. For me he tries to do too much with the ball and ends up getting the team in trouble (like a crap David Luiz) but hes okay-ish. Just we could have done getting rid of him 24 months ago! Storrie signed him up on those wages when he KNEW we were in trouble - the muppet. :fp:

EDIT - 40% of Championship clubs pay over 100% revenue on wages currently according to our admin...shall we speculate who? *cough* LEICESTER! *cough*

We pay over 100% at Forest and its something I just can't fathom. Surely the whole of football (aside from a handful of clubs) are teetering on the brink. The constant chase to get into the premier league is going to royally strawberry float up a huge number of clubs. I hope we are in the process of getting our house in order, if not then the people running the club should be shot. No other business would entertain running at that kind of loss. Wonder what will happen if Leicester don't get promotion this year. They've staked an awful lot on it happening.

its crazy though because if you look at teams like swnasea and norwich the wages for their players arent that high especially norwich. The norwich team is still mianly made up of players when they were in league 1, pretty much you dont have to spend crazy money to get promoted.

Imagine if Sheikh Mansour pulled out tomorrow/was arrested of fraud. Imagine what a DISASTER that would be for Man City.

West Ham have a player like John Carew on the bench who came in a flash. I'm sure he took a massive pay cut... It doesn't matter though because they are ambitious and at the top! All fine when you are having success, only takes on slip up doesn't it...

Ipswich have huge overheads. Leicester are currently having their expensive fires backfire (they are paying more for a Nugent, then Portsmouth paid for a Nugent! Think about that!), Nottingham Forest have over 100% in wages and have only just left the relegation zone because another club has gone into administration....again. Wigan have big, big debts and they will probably go down this season.

People need to wake up and see what is happening now, not just shake the finger at the club who goes into admin next. Everyone is behaving badly - and it WILL lead to the ugly franchising of football.

Id swap the league cup for cl but if we're not in the champions league we wont attract the quality of player we need.

1st choice lineup imo should be

Reina Enrique Agger Skrtel Johnson Downing Adam Lucas Gerrard Carroll Suarez

2nd Choice
Doni, Aurelio , Coates, Carra, Bellamy, Henderson, Kuyt, Shelvey, Spearing

Aurelio should be let go and robinson or flanagan can be given a chance to develop
Carra should stay for one more season as experienced cover and help young coates
Kuyt should be let go cause he doesn't have the quality we need anymore and slows our play down
Shelvey out on loan if he's not being used
Spearing should be let go, he's an average player who is out of his depth.

New 1st team
Reina, Enrique, Agger Skrtel Johnson Downing Adam Lucas Gerrard Carroll Suarez

2nd choice
Doni, Flan or robinson or new LB, Carra, Coates, Bellamy, Henderson, New right winger, New striker, New LB/RB

So in the summer we need a striker, Right winger and a LB or RB as priority, if we can get good quality players in those positions we'll be improving.

Yesterday showed when you don't isolate suarez and carroll they are effective, so dalglish needs to keep playing 2 players up there and we just might get 4th.

This is only my opinion.

Everytime i've seen Shelvey play i've been impressed I wish he'd get a good run in the first team. He's pretty much a benchwarmer at the mo.

You'd rather compete in a competition that you'll probably never win rather than winning some silverware :?

Attracting a type of player to do what? Win the league? The CL?

Yes.

Ideally we'd win a cup or two and finish fourth but if there was a choice I'd go for the CL place too, because the rewards in the long term are so much greater. Being in the CL opens up more in terms of revenue, allows the club to attract a higher standard of player which in turn not only allows us to build towards a squad that is capable of a title challenge and winning domestic cups.

But you won the CL in 2005, did you go on to building your squad and doing all those thngs you said?

I'd just like some strawberry floating silverware

I'd prefer both but i'm pretty sure most fans would prefer CL footie than win the League cup or even the FA cup and in Liverpools case I don't think its that unreasonable to say that a few big signings as a result of CL football could spur us on to win the CL or even the league at some point. Heck Liverpool won the Champions League with sqaud not to dissimilar in quality to the current team.

How come Curbishley has ruled himself out of the Wolves job? Loads have jobs have come up since he left West Ham but he seems completely uninterested.

According to Twitter (I know) it's the fact that Curbishley's vision of Wolves was very different to that of the Chairman's.

No money I guess.

Just been watching LFCTV, Showing some of Nandos goals  He was crazy good for us, really one of the best players in the world.
It is a shame to see him how he is now, i wonder if he'd still be miss firing if he was at Liverpool?
Image
He looks happy here  Nando

With regards to the Trophy or CL spot. I'd much Rather have the silver ware, As a team we're still not ready for the CL. Maybe next season depending on the ins and outs of the summer. A trophy or 2 would show players that we're heading in the right direction and we're still only 4pts of 4th. I'm still hopeful we can sneak in and get it. :shifty:

Do Chelsea fly to Napoli next week then come back and have to play there replay with the brummies? or is there a gap inbetween?

I'd rather have fourth place to be honest. Silverware is nice but at the same time to progress as a club we need the big money.

We have the money, we splashed 100 Million out. We havnt had a trophy for 6 years. That's a must.
If we can go to Wembley twice win a trophy and grab a europa spot this season ill be happy wwith the progress.
