Erm. So my account got hacked about 2 months ago and some prick spent £85 worth of my money to buy 10,000 microsoft points. I caught them in the act and cancelled my card/changed my password so they couldn't spend any of it. I rang up Microsoft about it right away and they took my account to check that I definately had no control over my account while the purchases were made and I asked them to take the points away as I didn't want to get banned. They refunded my money and gave me my account back the other week saying I was ok to use my account again and they gave me a code to extend my Xbox Live.

They didn't mention the points so I presumed they'd taken them away, but logging in for the first time today I find that I still have the 10,000 points. I definately got my money back, but they never took the points away from me. So did I win Xbox Live or something? Did they leave them there to be generous or something? I just can't understand why they didn't take the points away and I'm almost scared to spend them in case I get banned (not that it'd really bother me, but I do own a few arcade games so I'd be annoyed if I couldn't play them anymore)

Also. The new dashboard is awful. :/

First off! The new dashboard is gooseberry fool.

Secondly, you've probably won the points but I'd not spend them for a month or two in case. Or if you do want to use them, buy a small amount of points then they can't tell which points are clean/dirty.

Why wouldn't you be able to play your XBLA games that are on your HDD any more if you got banned from Live?

Just spend all the points then play your content offline. It's not like you need Live anyway.

I use Live to play fighting games with Dala. That's pretty much it these days.

Okay, well then do what Bido says. Buy a few points and get them intertwined with the dodgy points.

If you want to be sure, you can phone them to ask if it's allright that you have these MS points. While not related incident, my brother kept his games for free despite he got refunded due to Microsoft thinking someone hacked his account or something.

But I doubt you'd get banned anyway - after all, it's not like you're doing anything wrong in first place.

I'm going to wait until there's something I want before I spend them. There's some BlazBlue CSE announcer DLC for Day 1 I'll probably get as it's pretty much free for me and then Skullgirls whenever that comes out.

Anyways the same thing happened to a friend of mine, pretty much the exact same thing because he was left with 10,000 MS points after getting his money back. He spent (most of) them right away. Hasn't heard anything else about the matter since.
