Had a sneak peek at these three games in HD.

Metal Gear Solid 2 still has the very best credit roll and intro. It's just pure class. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has brilliant controls but I'm unsure about the comic-book style for storytelling.

I'm now absolutely busting for a new Metal Gear Solid game. I'd love it if Hideo/Konami made the original as a PS4 remake and I also hope MGS5, currently in development, is also a PS4 title.

strawberry floating can't wait.

I hope it's multiformat.

I hope it's about The Boss and her Cobra Unit in WW2 like he originally said.

As a nostalgia rush it has been a blast, but I believe that the game still holds up extremely well a decade on. I'm particularly amazed by how clean the graphics are, and even simple stuff like the inventory icons and text look superb upscaled to HD res, and I notice a significant improvement in the quality of the sound of the game.

Totally agree with you dude, I was playing some of the collection last night and everything looked so good in HD (surprisingly so). I'd forgotten just how much I love the Metal Gear games.

I just hope MGS5 isn't as cut scene-o-riffic as MGS4 was :fp:

I've always thought 2 and 3 were really bad for the cutscene to gameplay ratio, I don't think I minded with 3 though.

I haven't played 4 yet, is it worse than the others?

Some of the cutscenes have save points partway through :fp:

MGS4 was (as stated by Hideo) created for the hardcore Metal Gear fan. The fan that follows the story (as batshit as it is) closely and enjoys everything about it. I'm not saying the cut scenes should necessarily be that long, but then I really enjoyed them, and they really are part of the whole experience.

If you do pick up MGS4, chapter 1/2 are some of the most fun I've had in an MGS game, and then there's that fan level.

It really is. I'm going through the HD collection here, but I can feel an MGS4 playthrough simultaneously going down.

I wish you could pause the cut scenes, even bringing up the guide doesnt pause them.

Yeah I was shocked at that actually, one thing that really helped in MGS4 was that you could pause them. I got stuck last night dying for the loo only to wish a cut scene would hurry up.

In any modern game there's no excuse not to have pausable cutscenes now. Especially with the length they're starting to reach.

Same here - was it the one at the end of the Tanker bit? I have played through it before as well, so I should have known it was coming...

Lucky then, bar Peace Maker, these aren't modern games.
