The Galaxy S is a brilliant phone and I've enjoyed revelling in the fact that I had bought without doubt the best Android phone available at the time. 8-) However, I've had it for some time and, well, familiarity breeds contempt.

I'm looking forward to upgrade as I expect my upgrade phone to be like the Galaxy S but with more advanced tech and most of the annoyances gone. And not an HTC.

It's like HTC make phones which are mostly good, despite all their incompetence.

Lucky people.

AKA: Mind Crime
I felt concern at the time of signing up to the 24 months contract that I would feel like my phone was old and crap long before it came to upgrading, but I still lovingly cuddle and kiss it goodnight every night. Sometimes more than that. Stick it up my bum sometimes. I must be about eight months from being able to upgrade, I think?

I also feel lucky to have not had a faulty HTC model. I have seen them (okay, one Sensation) act like gooseberry fool and have obviously read things on here about the Desire, among others, yet mine has always been totally brilliant. I don't know if the Desire HD is a particularly solid model or if I've just been lucky.

Surely the only way to judge their competence is through their phones? Or... Are you including their customer service into it or something?

I've had CyanogenMod for about a week now, and I'm not sure where all the claims of great stability come from, mine is constantly freezing, force closing and the like. As soon as ICS is released for GS2 I'll be straight back to stock Android I think.

If it's freezing then its a bad install. You have a bad base or something.

I say so because they make such unbelievably poor design choices in their phones and software and generally everything and yet their phones turn out mostly good.

Got my Facebook notifications working again by uninstalling the app, deactivating my Facebook account then reactivating it and installing the app again :fp:

I see.

I said a while back that, based on my mum's Wildfire, the contacts and call UI is, retarded on HTCs. It's so unintuitive.

I'm sure it's changed since though.

7 or 9? If it's 9 then there isn't a stable release yet because it's still in development. If it's 7 then, as chalkitdown said, it's something wrong with your install. Did you do a full wipe before flashing?

Where where where?

Just noticed there's a Sky Sports News app now. Good, because the Sky Sports website is an absolute horror show on smartphones.

Sky Go is only limited to certain phones so far:
Quote:
As we previously noted, the Sky Go Android app is only available in the UK and Ireland on a limited range of Android devices to begin with: HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S, and Samsung Galaxy S II.

if you cant see it it usually means your device isn't compatible as you can only see app that you can actually install

Triple Town is meant to be the bee's knees, but it's not compatible with MIUI or Cyanogen, apparently.
