My laptops been playing up for about a month now. It forgets small things, for example if I rearrange my desktop shortcuts, next time I boot up they'll be back to how they were. Chrome also never logs me into website automatically, it remembers the passwords but I have to log in myself each time.

It stores files fine, never had an issue with work not saving or a download going missing/getting corrupt. Something to be worried about or an easy fix?

Might be unrelated, but it doesn't going into hibernation anymore. It used to automatically do it when I folded the screen down but now it just carries on running (fans stay on) and freezes on a black screen when the screen is closed.

Cheers for any help!

Have you got any anti spyware or PC cleaning software running?

CCleaner which, come to think of it, was installed around the time these problems starting occuring. Hmmmm.

FWIW, it's not just rebooting that does this. If I close Chrome the next I open it I'll have to log in again.

Make sure you haven't stuck ccleaner on a (daily) schedule. Also make sure you've turned on cookies, as well.

Sounds like what my Samsung HDD was doing over the last few days. I thought Windows was to blame at first but seemed like I had a dodgy HDD. Laptop HDDs are easy enough to replace, but obviously gonna cost you a bit of money to get it sorted if it does turn out to be a HDD fault.
