Arrival's awesome but you need to finish the main story first or it won't make sense.

Arrival's pretty poor tbh - certainly miles behind the amazing LotSB

Hi, quick ME related question. Rather ask it here than search for an old thread or even make a new one! So a quick yes or no would be fine :)

have the glitches for Paragons & Exp glitch been patched?

Thanks

I decided to take a break from the main story and instead focus on smaller missions and the DLC stuff. Most recently I completed Project Overlord.

I am astounded at how terrible it was.

I don't get how Bioware managed to release it in the state it's in, it's unfathomable. The narrative of it is underwhelming, a plodding exercise of 'go here, now there, then over there' with a little bit of story thrown onto the end to try and provide some kind of emotional resonance (failing spectacularly, David looked like he was in some kind of robo-bukkake flick) and the gameplay itself was terrible. The roaming from one area to another in the Hammerhead was completely unnecessary and added nothing, and if anything reminded me of the vehicular parts of Ratchet & Clank 3 (the PS2 one), only Ratchet handled better and looked superior graphically. Maybe it's just the PS3 version but when trying to manouver the Hammerhead the graphical fidelity of the world drops significantly; textures turn into small square blobs of colour and the vehicle itself passes through parts of the landscape. Whoever thought adding the Hammerhead would improve the game needs castrating.

I am in awe of how goddamn awful Project Overlord was.

Yeah I noticed that too. The hammerhead overworld looks much worse than it did on the 360.

I didn't see any kind of texture pop-in when playing Overlord on 360. As for the pointless driving between locations, you can probably blame the people who put ME1 on a pedestal and bitched about needing (and continue to bitch about needing) exploration like it was in ME1, even though at the time that game was out all the same people hated that :?

I think I've got a save from before I started the mission, I think I might just get a few screengrabs to post. It really looks atrocious at times. I suppose the primary reason why I got so infuriated was because I was attempting to gather all six information packets, and am playing on Hardcore difficulty: The handling of the Hammerhead, the awful visuals, the turrets that had inch-perfect aim and could decimate me in three seconds while the missiles I fired did next to no damage, and there being no save function while you are traversing the land, it all combined to make one of the worst gaming experiences I've had since the reboot of Bionic Commando..

The turrets are a pain. If there's no cover to hand you have to fire from just within range of their activation/firing and hope the missiles home in and destroy them; essentially an "in, out, in, out, blow it all about" strategy. If there's cover, leap up over it, fire off a round, then stay hidden until you regenerate your shields.

Then hardest part for me was the downed air-car underneath the rock bridge leading to Vulcan Station, which had two of those big white mechs standing by it. It was very dark and ran right into them. Luckily it was my first port of call so didn't have to redo a lot of stuff to get back there.

Best plan of action is to tackle a third of the information packets, do a station, tackle s'more packets, do station number two, finish off the packets and go in for the third station. This is because of the saving that occurs during/after each station that'll secure the packets you've already found.

Do people know if powers with similar effects are stackable? I ask because I'm thinking of making a Sentinel character and was optioning Fortification as my bonus power. Can both be utilised or would it be an idea to choose something with a different effect?

I've just polished off everyone's loyalty mission. Should I start Lair of the Shadow Broker before Reaper IFF since I heard starting that kickstarts the endgame?

You can do it after endgame anyway - I think it's actually better end-game from impressions, don't quote me on that though.

Yeah I agree. Personally i leave it for post suicide mission to be honest. Apart from Overlord i usually leave all the DLC for after the Suicide Mission. It just feels right doing it afterwards and also you have a brief chat about how Shepard is feeling about having stopped the Collectors and the Reaper threat being still out there. Arrival just makes more sense from a story perspective to do it after the Suicide Mission as well.

As always, do the opposite of what Dual says. Gotcha. :)

lol j/k I just wanted to know if it was a dumb idea to do it after the main plot has ended.

I started through the DLC i bought way back when they where on offer. Also went through the anomaly missions and the vehicle ones to get my level to 30 in readiness for ME3 transfer. I hope i can take some of my weapons etc. The gun with the kasumi dlc is quite good.

Well, just finished the Lair of the Shadowbroker dlc (which was ace) and am now moppin up the last few Firewalker salvage missions and element-rich planets detailed by the intelligence reports in LotSB, then onto Arrival. Loved the joking about the 'exotic hotel' before facing down the assassin. Also reading Revelation which is all schlocky good fun. Hardly going to be winning any prizes for originality or skill, but whoever described it as MOAR MASS EFFECT got it on the nose.
