TNA has released Desmond Wolfe aka former ROH champion Nigel McGuinness, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
Wolfe, who had been sidelined for some time with a health issue that prevented him from wrestling for the company, was last seen appearing as the TNA Xplosion Commissioner, setting up a tournament on that internationally syndicated series.

After a stellar run with Ring of Honor that included a ROH title run, Wolfe was slated to sign with WWE but the company opted not to sign him after he went through their screening proces. TNA immediately snapped him up and put him into an angle with Kurt Angle that led to some great matches.

Wolfe was put on the back-burner when the Bischoff-Hogan regime entered the picture and never regained his momentum in the company before injuries forced him out of the ring.

In recent months, he has been writing a sitcom and has also been doing stand-up in the Orlando area.

Capitol Punishment is this Sunday. Yay. Some bad news, Skippy has pm'ed me a crude list of his predictions. Unfortunately they won't count and it looks like he won't be around this weekend to predict so it looks like our champ is going to have a huge deficit to make up. Plus with the start of tag battle being this round it will put whoever is matched with him at a disadvantage. Someone did manage to make it all the way to the semis last year on their own so it is possible.

GRAPL TAG BATTLE
For those new to the competition the tag battle is a side game. You don't have to do anything but predict normally. The solo part is still as normal.
You will be matched with another entrant at random and your scores will be added together to form a tag score. If your tag score is higher than your opponents then you win and advance further in the tournament. First round is the qualifier. The 8 teams with the highest score will get 2 bonus points and go into the finals.
REMEMBER THE SOLO GAME IS UNCHANGED.

For some reason that really made me laugh.

Anyway, Hank Scorpio? Are you serious? He's nothing but a fraud, an international criminal. He doesn't deserve to tag with the current tag team champ.

On a serious note, I really enjoy the tag battle. I think it adds some extra excitement that carries on for a few months.

I will put my predictions up later as I don't think this ppv is as obvious as some of the recent ones.

By the way, I got an email from Silvervision this afternoon, and apparently the Nitro DVD is due in stock next week.

I don't understand why Gunner, of all people, was selected for this push. It seems like the most arbitrary decision.

Half decent Impact overall. I enjoyed the brawl in the car park for what it was, and Kurt using the Angle slam made me laugh

Yep, Friday. Which is apt.

WCW Nitro is back on Friday nights. Will turn it on at 9 for nostalgia purposes
