3&K together is the best, then:

CD>2>1

They are all fantastic if you ask me but 1 is the weakest purely because it was the first. The others all improved on it IMO. Torn between which is better between 2+CD but I think CD takes it.

After playing through S3&K over the past couple of days, I too would like to subscribe to this theory.

Sonic 2 is still my favourite though. There are no words to describe how much I love that game.
