Quote:
Sonic 'Generations' to be unveiled for 20th anniversary?
Sega say they're going to start celebrating Sonic's 20th birthday tomorrow, April 7 - with some speculating that they might unveil something called Sonic Generations.

The reports are all a little vague on detail and big on supposition, but here's what we know for sure - today, Sega wrote on the official Sonic Facebook page: 'Sonic's 20th Anniversary is this year, but SEGA start celebrating on Thurs 7th April - and you'll only find out how here on Facebook!'
The very fist Sonic The Hedgehog game was released on June 23 1991, so Sonic's still a few months away from his official birthday - which raises the question of exactly how Sega plans to start 'celebrating' his birthday.
Meanwhile, investigative Twitterer Superannuation spotted that Sega had registered two new domains - sonicgenerations.com and sonic-generations.com. Thus raising the distinct possibility that something called 'Sonic Generations' could be heading our way. And that does sound rather like the sort of name a 20th anniversary product might have - whether a new game, or more likely a collection of old ones.
We reported last year that Sega might be planning 'to release a game that recreates a number of classic levels and games in both 2D and 3D.'
Of course, this is all speculation - and we'll find out what Sega actually have planned tomorrow.

Seems like SEGA to put out another compilation, although the idea of playing a few old levels in 3D does have merit.

UPDATE:

You including 2010 in that? Sonic Colours was good, Sonic 4 was awful.

I played colours and definitely think it classes as mediocre. The way he talked out of the side of his face constantly annoyed me too.

True, it would need Sonic 1 2 and 3 physics. They were pretty off in 4.

Yep, Sonic didn't feel like Sonic to control in 4.

I've been playing Sonic 4 for the past week or so and it's an infuriating game. There are a lot of good ideas in the game but they are all cancelled out by the way Sonic controls and some hideous level design with areas that are damn near impossible to pass first time due to the sudden death situations the game flings you into. Also you can't look up or down.

Looks like it could be a remake of the original games in 3D.

That's invalid now. Sonic 4 had no friends, or fans

They need to get the original artists back doing sprites and fix their crappy jumpings physics in the Sonic 4 engine.

My only worry from this trailer is that new Sonic looks cool where as the Classic Sonic seems to be protrayed as a child or retard. Look at the way he behaves after landing.

Really glad they've brought back the Classic look back. Black eyes, short spikes and tubby. Will be interested to see what they do with it but I think it'll be a remake or just use all the old ideas and bosses like Sonic 4 did, that was a let down.

Classic Sonic is more than enough to get excited about. If only they'd had him stomp Newcomer Sonic into the ground at the end.
