In no particular order:

- Sonic 2
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Micro Machines 2
- Gunstar Heroes
- FIFA 95

I do regret not having been mature enough to understand how fantastic the Mega Drive was - in the early 1990s, I was a rabbid Nintendo fanboy, I only started to explore the Mega Drive in about 1995, although this was not bad itself because many of the games were getting price cuts and the console was much cheaper than 4-5 years before

Immortal moments of racing Micro Machines dragsters on a toilet seat... :P

Through the magic of emulation... well, Mega Drive Ultimate Collection to be precise, I've been playing one of my favourite games and my favourite Treasure game of all time...

Dynamite Headdy

Possibly my favourite level in the game, so much innovation in one little game :)

Dynamite Headdy is one of those games that hasn't aged a day. Its creativity, wonderful visual style and incredibly fun gameplay are still as oddly captivating as ever. Holds a soft spot for me as well, it's the first truly bizarre game I ever played :P No idea why my mother decided to buy my brother that game for his birthday, but we were glad she did.

Somewhat miffed that I've never been able to complete it though, heh. I want to track down a Japanese copy as apparently it's quite a bit easier than the western version.

On the subject of the Mega Drive, it's a system I'm about to really start collecting for. I'm sending a Mega Drive model 1 (with "High Definition Graphics" labelled on the top; that's a sign it has good sound quality apparently) to be modded for imports+60Hz, and I've got a list of games I want to get in good time. Love this system  It gets tricky if you always want the games at 60Hz though, some PAL games will run fine when switched over into it while a few will have problems (I know Street Fighter's music plays too fast if switched), so I'll end up with a weird mishmash of EU/JP Mega Drive games and some US Genesis ones.

Also I'm sure everyone agrees we got the better name for the system? Not that Genesis isn't badass, but it'll always be a Mega Drive to me

Holy crap, the recent Mega Drive pack on Steam is awesome :o

- Alien Soldier
- Gunstar Heroes
- Light Crusader
- Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
- Shining Force
- Shining Force 2
- Shining in the Darkness
- Streets of Rage
- Streets of Rage 2
- Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair

Considering the prices for some of those carts, I swear they're trying to tempt me away from collecting :P But nah, I'll probably grab that pack soon enough and keep going for the originals. That pack is a seriously good deal though, £5.50 for a good part of the system's top titles.

So as everone knows the mega drive was really slow in europe comapred to what everyone else was getting, was this a problem no.
I must have owned like 100 different mega drive games in the last two years (I own 20 now) so I got to learn a lot about the system and what was worth playing.
For stuff made by sega you hardly ever went wrong with the console exclusive stuff, they had some alright arcade ports and ports of arcade games that wern't that good. Sega best was exclusive to the mega drive I'm talking about:
Ristar
Sonic 1, 2, 3&Kunckles
Comix Zone
The micky mouse/donald duck games (quackshot, castle of illuision ect)
Streets of rage 1&2
revenge of shinobi
and even the stuff that I haven't been able to play yet like shinobi 3 and the RPG's like fantasy star and shining force.

The there is the 3rd party stuff the best of which include the likes of:
Rocket Knight Adventues
Thunder force IV
Aladdin
Earthworm Jim
Dynamite Headdy
Gunstar Heroes
Castlevania
and once again stuff I haven't got to play like sparkster, probotector (contra hard corps) and other games that I forget the names of.

There is a lot to play on the mega drive.

Anyone remember Virtua Racing, the game cost £60-70 because it has some SVP chip in it (SEGA's version of the Super FX)

I bought it on release day! Took me a while to save that money up!

Some easter eggs take years to find, the fact that it takes 47 to happen means that it is amazing that someone found it.

Woah, that is weird. Maybe that instrument was planned to be used all throughout the song, then they dropped it but decided to throw it in that secretive way?

Ha, awesome. I recognize some of those but it's a bit weird seeing areas I don't recognize, considering how many times over I've played the game.

All the love for Dynamite Headdy in here

It's a very nostalgic title for me, quirky and utterly random. Some of the scenes are just awesome, fighting the rapidly aging bloke in the shoot em up level, Headdy's wonderland and the evil robot fight, Spinderella and the rotating tower climb on the way to him

I remember beating it once with the secret code from the basketball minigame, couldn't figure out how to beat the fat dude at the end.

Just brought my Mega Drive II downstairs and connected it up. Picture looks a bit washed out (still using the RF cable for now) but apart from that it works perfectly. Sonic 3 & Knuckles session this weekend I think. Gens and the compilations are good, but can't match the real thing.
