I don't know how anyone can think Borderlands combat is anything at all like Fallout 3. Its night and day.

Really?

Really?

I'd say they are virtually identical bar a few different features.

And I have to agree with whoever said the combat in BL isn't tight/they missed perfectly lined up shots.

That was very annoying, as was the fact that you couldn't take on an enemy that one/two levels higher than you due to the bizarre level scale system the game used. It was even more annoying when weapons that could have easily taken them out were rendered useless.

Like saying Bayonetta is identical to Demon's Souls.

1. Borderlands combat is skill based with stats on top, Fallout 3s is stat based period.
2. Borderlands is totally about combat, Fallout 3 isn't.
3. Borderlands has hub based large but enclosed maps, Fallout 3 is open world.
4. They play completely differently.
5. Borderlands is a 4 player co-op based game, Fallout 3 is a SP game.

These are just the overarching differences, there are 100s more. To say Fallout 3 has anything other than a passing resemblance to Borderlands is just plain wrong.

Explain how they are so different?

Both are first person shooters, both have RPG elements, both require the player to pick up loot to improve everything from armour to weapons to stats, etc.

Over to you, Jim.

No reply.

I figured as much.

Think before posting such ridiculous claims when you know you won't be able to back them up.

Or you could just look up the page to where I posted it.

And Fallout 3 is not in any way an FPS.

You play from a first person perspective and shoot things

Pretty sure that's a FPS

Not when playing the game requires (and it does) you to pause the action, select targets and then watch as a stat based, unplayable video rolls.

For it to be an FPS, it needs to be in real time and require accurate aiming and shooting. Fallout 3 does not qualify, Borderlands does.

I wouldn't say Fallout 3 is an FPS, if that was the case it would be regarded as one of the least satisfy shooters of this generartion. A new genre maybe, FPSRPG

I liked the podcast. Good length and despite being pretty damn geeky, you're all cool chaps obviously with a lot of passion for gaming. Format was good too, currently playing plus one news segment and then one other feature could work well every fortnight or so. Good work!

FPRPG. The shooter shouldn't in in the genre title (otherwise you'd call any RPG that involved shooting a Shooter RPG and that'd be silly).

I'd hardly call it the first in the genre.
