Let's settle this like gentlemen, gentlemen!

2 is by far my favourite. It's hard to define why exactly, everything from the level design to the music to the yadda yadda...you know, it's all top notch and seems to gel with the gameplay of Sonic better than any other game in the series. That's not to say I don't love the other entries, but 2 for me is the one every other Sonic game wants to be

My ranking of the series would be: 2>>>>1>>& Knuckles>CD>>3

(oh and I know some people like to vouch for 3 & Knuckles, but I thought it'd be more interesting if they were counted seperately).

Sonic 2

3 and Knuckles were good. But I never liked 'em as much as 2.

First one is rubbish. You can't even spindash. Or can you? I can't actually remember.

Sonic 2 was the game that made me realize I needed a Megadrive.

2 for me. Must have played it countless times over the years and I still love it.

I find it extremely difficult to get past Labyrinth Zone in the original game nowadays.

No, you can't. Thus, there is an emphasis on skillfully preserving your momentum whereever possible. Sonic 1 also has longer "zones", which each area consisting of three acts, making it, by any measure, the more substantial game.

Though, judging by the art they used in-game, Sonic CD appears to be based on Sonic 1, and does has a spindash-style move.

Arguably, it is the relative ease with which Sonic 2 can be finished (and the ability to bring a friend with you while doing so!) that makes it the more fondly remembered game. Nonetheless, Sonic 1 IS finishable.

I liked 3 the best, though I actually think Sonic Chaos on Master System was the best Sonic game.

I love em all. Having said that, though I think my favourite would have to be either Sonic 1 or Sonic 2.

The first Sonic game I have played was Sonic 1 on the Master System, then I got the Mega Drive with Sonic 1.

Sonic 2 is a big disappointment. Too short. Poor level designs. Crappy second character.

And Super Sonic is crap because you can't get killed, thus you just stand there when Robotnik comes at you. Skills went out of the window. The only real skill comes in is the final boss battle as there aren't any rings to protect you from an inevitable death.

How many times have I gone Super Sonic as soon I jumped after went through the end "gate." The poor bugger would stuck there, running in mid air, forcing me to reset.

I like &Knuckles the best, closely followed by 2, loved 1 at the time but no spindash annoys me after it being included in the later ones, I know it shouldnt but it does.
