The Olympic Park itself is massive and will make this a completely different games to the games in China where the Olympic stadium was in the middle of a car park. The landscaping is going to really make the venues look amazing.

Its going to be a bit gooseberry fool.

I'm still going to go Not too many chances to see something like this.

At the moment you are just registering an interest and they will let you know if you can order tickets nearer the time as it depends on demand and they may need to do a random ballot.

This will indeed be once in a lifetime as London has held the Olympics twice already so holding it a 4th time after 2012 would be amazingly greedy .

Everyone that wants tickets will get tickets....

But it might be for the slightly smaller events.

I want to go and see the Judo and field athletics, as well as one of the opening/closing ceremonies. I might try and get tickets to the football at the Emirates as well, not decided yet...

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. I'm signed up for the opening and closing ceremonies but the chances of getting tickets are virtually nil as I imagine everyone has signed up to those.

To be fair I think any country would have struggled to follow China and especially the opening ceremony which they spent a fortune on the likes of which our organisers can only dream off.

Will look very good if they finish it in time.

It's a snip at £9.3 Billion .

Erm, we will get to sell all the houses being built for the Olympic Village which had to be bailed out due to private funding not working out and we get a new school and some nice shiny new venues.

So, yeah think of it like investing in our children. You wouldn't want to scrimp on the children would you? You're a beastly beast if you do .

It's not a very British question, it's world wide, the only reason China spent so much is because they just don't care what the people want.

True, and their main olympic stadium is simply jaw droppingly amaze, but haven't they got the fastest growing population of Middle Class, Millionaires and Billionaires in the world?

Anyway, the 80s-power-station-silo-with-scaffolding design of our actual Stadium is gooseberry fool compared to other Olympic Stadia let alone Beijing. Our beautiful original crystal-muscle Stadium concept (that actually looks like it actually belongs in the 21st century) probably deceived a lot of voters to make us win the bid in part.
