Downloaded a shitload of films today. Even though there's a shitload in my collection I still haven't watched.

Heat
Hard Candy
Jurassic Park 1+2 (the discussion in the Pictures thread made me wanna)
Trollhunter
Gremlins 1+2 :shifty: pure nostalgia.
Lethal Weapon 2
Pan's Labyrinth
Crimes and Misdemeanors (woody allen flick)

incoming:

Cobra Verde
A bunch of Hitchcock movies
*cough* Space Jam
LA Confidential
Blade Runner

Feels good.

Any recommendations for that crazy Japanese director who did Ichi the Killer? I already have 13 Assassins. Or any good Asian director for that matter? I already saw Oldboy.

I was so stoked when I first saw the Jurassic Park poster in my local cinema. Black T-Rex skeleton against a red sky. This is going to be awesome. For some reason, though, I never got to see it. But I did see Lost World when it was released.

What a bag of gooseberry fool. None nonsensical plot and abysmal action and CGI.

Dunno whether to watch Alien3 tomorrow or leave it for a while. 3's meant to be the crap one, isn't it?

Alien 3 is quality, just make sure you watch the DC

Does the directors cut explain how the queen managed to lay two eggs in the ship at the end of Aliens despite having lost its ovipositor (egg laying bits) beforhand?

Nope.

Alien 3 should be watched twice. Once for the theatrical release and then again for the Special Edition. They're very different films, more so than most Special Editions I've ever seen.

Make sure and watch the Special features for Alien 3 as well. Out of all the movies the story behind its development is easily the most messed up but very interesting. Considering the pressures and problems of the shoot, Fincher does a damn good job of putting together something that's well worth watching and still better than Resurrection in almost every respect.

I might leave a bit of a gap in between watching the theatrical and special edition versions. There's only so much Alien I can take :shifty: Are the Alien vs Predator films... canonical, or can I just ignore them? Noticed they've got the guy who the Bishop "artificial person" (Charles Weyland?) was modelled after in there.

In my universe the AvP films do not exist. They are an abomination to the Predator and Alien franchises and should not be watched by anyone. Who ever thought to make a film starring cinemas nastiest aliens a 15 should be shot!

Collateral - 9

Love this film. So many great/tense scenes, especially towards the end.

The Thing - 8/10

First time I've seen it. Enjoyable stuff. Not particularly scary, but a couple of moments made me jump a bit, and the effects were better than I anticipated. Good soundtrack too. Couple of times I found it hard to keep track of who people were (their names mainly) and there were a couple of bits I didn't quite 'get', but nevertheless, a great film. I can see how it would've been amazing at the time.

Erm, I'll try and remember...

1) Mac..did he get made to take the blood test? I don't remember seeing it, and if not, why wouldn't the others make him?

2) At what point did The Thing infect someone else after they first found it? From what I remember, they burnt everything apart from the remains in the store room, and once that killed that guy, they burnt that too. Didn't seem to be made clear how people became infected, especially when the dog guy was hanging around with the dogs so much but remained clear.

3) What was up with the dog at the start? Why were the Norwegians trying to kill it (and failing with their awful aim) :fp:

4) Why did the dog guy (don't know his name) try and kill Mac? Just a bit mental?
