And now... where the hell is he?

Watch Open Range  and Mr. Brooks.

He's also in the new Superman movie.

Crazy Stupid Love - 8/10

Ryan Golsing is such a god. Pretty decent film, though formulaic (to be expected I guess). One bit that made no sense was Golsing and the girl spending all night together talking and stuff. No one who fancies each other wouldn't have sex in that situation. Though I guess it kind of needs to be like that for later in the film. The whole graduation ceremony was crap too.

The Expendables - ***

The church meeting scene is the best scene in the entire film.

On Schwarzenegger's exit...

"What's his problem?"

"He want to be president."

And I have to say that I'm very surprised that the team is all pally with Gunnar (Dolph Lundgren) again at the end, considering what HE did. :fp:

A brainless popcorn action flick that every red blood male should watch at least once, I reckon.

Yet again an excellent HD transfer, although perhaps not as good as the original's Bluray release.

The Woman in Black - ***
It's refreshing to find a new horror film that actually uses atmosphere and creepiness instead of just throwing up loud noises now and again to artificially "scare" the audience. The story was decent too, until the final third when it didn't seem to know how to end properly - why this is so common in horror films, I'll never know.

Still, definitely a good starting point for the return of proper horror. Shows that Hammer is still a name to respect in the genre.

The Thing - ****

First time watching it, pretty good. I'm too tired to write why. Did just see this though.

Quote:
"When you guys were talking about the ambiguous resolution to The Thing, it reminded me of a film analysis I read of the Thing in college, namely that the bottle of alcohol that Kurt Russell and Keith David share at the end of the film is actually one of the bottles of ether or fuel that Kurt Russell was using for molotov cocktails. Kurt Russell never actually takes a drink of it, but Kieth David does. A human would know the difference between drinking a bottle of ether or gasoline immediately, but the creature has no reference for it, or a gag reflex that an actual human would have when drinking it. It drinks the bottle, imitating a human, not knowing that it was a trick on Macready's part to prove whether David's character had been taken by the creature or not."
