We're looking at getting a dog, which unfortunately means the TT might have to go... you'd never fit a Rhodesian Ridgeback in the back of a coupe, even with the seats down.

This means I could soon be on the hunt for something more, whisper it, 'practical'. I don't have any spare cash, so I'd be looking for a straight swap for the TT, which is optimistically worth about £5k at the moment.

Current shortlist - S4 Avant (bit big for me, TBH), S3, Golf R32... anything else I should consider? Has to be fast. 0-60 in no more than 7.5; preferably quicker.

Some sort of fast Ford Focus? I think it is called the STD. Could be wrong.

Some other type of hatchback that smells of plastic and has a large engine shoehorned into it... like a Citroen Megané Turbo D Cup Special. Or the Peugeot Donkey Fist. The Skoda Fanny Magneto?

I'm struggling here TBH.

If it was me, I'd just get the Mrs pregnant and forget about getting a dog.

I'll pass, cheers... I think an estate is too big; I'm thinking more fast hatchback.

I want a decent guard dog/one that looks fairly hard to keep the local kids out my garden, but the Mrs has ruled out Alsatians or Dobermans, for some reason. I'd have a Doberman, personally, but there ya go. I don't like staffies.

I did some research and Ridgebacks looked pretty cool. Trying to find someone who has some adult dogs that we can visit before we decide, though.

My last dog looked a little bit like a slightly longer haired, softer, fluffier, more in touch with his feminine side, not as ridiculously ripped, non-ridgebacked Ridgeback. Similar colour and size at least. :shifty:

Poser, have you considered the BMW 1 series? The 2.0 diesel is pretty fast.

Yeah, I really like them; might not stretch to one, though - I think the 123d looks epic, and remaps to about 250bhp, IIRC.

I personally would go for a ridgeback without the ridge.

It's a deformation for the dog, a ridgeless dog would be much healthier in later life.

Interesting. I've seen a few crosses advertised - Ridgeback/Whippet was quite cool looking.

I might start a pets discussion thread.

Right, there is no easy way to say this, but Ferraris do nothing for me. The last Ferrari I actually wanted was the 308 GTB.

When I see one I do say "Look kids, a Ferrari!" but if I had the money to buy one, I'd probably buy something else.

I... I guess that's ok. Weirdo

I'd take a 458 over most other cars on the planet, I think.

Fuel pump changed, car can now run on veg oil. Also been tuned a bit so bit faster than before, lot more smokey too.

Should get a Rottweiler btw if you want to keep people out your garden, people used to cross the road because of my old one, not that she was vicious, she was just hench.

So would I. It's fackin gawjus. I do like the Macca MP4-12C though - it's technically the better car too.

That F12 looks a lot like the FF. Nice though.

Just booked a test drive in the brand new Polo for tonight.

Its in the 1.2 but Im not sure that I will want it. They describe it as 'fun' which would indicate to me that its slow but loud.
