Aren't a lot of programmes going to be unavailable due to various TV contracts with the likes of Sky?

If you don't want to go through the hassle of downloading the app via a US account, just search for 'Netflix' on Bing. It's there!

Does anyone know where there's a full list of the content available on the service? I can't find one on the website.

Very poor selection of content, or is that just me expecting too much? Take it each region has specific content so to speak, because I'm betting there's no way in hell the US store is the same as the Irish one.

I know it's got a much bigger selection in the US. It's early days here though, and I believe Netflix are still in the process of snapping up new content deals in the UK. They've started producing their own shows too.

How's the PS3 streaming, in terms of speed? If I can explain, online gaming for me is 100% fine but PSN downloads are pathetically slow (I'm on a 30MB line). One of those little quirks. Which experience is Netflix more likely to replicate?

Have you turned media sharing off in Network Settings, it affects PSN speeds quite a bit.

Yep, and all the right ports are open. I dunno.

Well, on my 8MB connection last night, it took 4 seconds to buffer in, then about another 20 to steadily upgrade the quality to HD. Didn't pause to re-buffer once in the 45 minutes I used it.

That was on WiFi, with media sharing enabled.

PSN downloads do seem slower than on LIVE, maybe because Microsoft have a better server farm set-up. But I don't think this is relevant to Netflix streaming. I have 8 Meg broadband with O2 and watching iPlayer in HD is great, only once in a while will it stutter.

I have the full LoveFilm service ( I got 6 months unlimited for £17 quid during Black Friday sales). I love the blu-ray rentals, but the streaming list is stagnant, and the streaming is sub sd quality and blocky. What looks good about Netflix is the sheer range of content and the options for better picture quality.

We offer 3 video quality settings to help you manage your data usage: Good (up to 0.3 GB/hour), Better (up to 0.7 GB/hour) and Best (about 1.0 GB/hour but up to 2.3 GB/hour when streaming HD content). The default setting is "Good" and you can change the setting any time you want - your price will remain just £5.99 a month.

I've been waiting for Netflix as it means Amazon will hopefully raise them game and improve LoveFilm. The free market is good isn't it?! :)

Yeah content is going to be key here. The interface is very nice and works very well on the consoles but if they don't add new stuff regularly going to be pointless sticking around. Hope they keep at it.

The telehone line itself is strawberry floated. It was damaged in a storm last summer and after it was "repaired" the broadband service went off a cliff in terms of usability. Everyone in the local area has been having the same problem but Eircom are insisting its fine and won't have the repair reassessed.

I currently use the lovefilm Xbox streaming only package for £4.99. Will be interested to see how this compares. If the quality is better, it may well convince me to switch over to this.

I find there's zero consistency with this streaming business.

Inside Xbox constantly needs to buffer for me, despite being sub-standard definition.
4OD on PS3 & DailyMotion on 360 don't work at all.
BBC iPlayer (PS3) & YouTube (360) work without a hitch, & both in HD.

Both systems are through wireless.

Is this worth subscribing to if you have Sky Player? At a glance the selection doesn't look nearly as big.

Sounds like a problem your end.

Inside Xbox does buffer for me too but I think that's down to the program itself.

Everything else you've mentioned (on 360 at least) works perfectly for me.

Ah, I had the same thing when I lived in Kildare. Couldn't sync the DSL until 11:30 at night, because the phone line was strawberry floated, but I kept getting told everything was fine.

I could actually hear other people's conversations when I was on the phone.
