Man, I love at least one song off this album. Never got around to listening to the rest of it.

(Kiss of death, sorry)

Listened to it a few times before as I have the album, a provisional 7/10 for me.
I'll listen to it again

Oops, havent been on in a while, so this completely flew past me. Luckily Ive already listened to a few of these so I can review a few now and work my way through the rest:

B, A Perfect Circle, Thirteenth Step. Havent listened to this one in a while, but I always liked it due to my love of Tool, the lyrics and bass in particular are highlights of the album. Still got a few filler tracks, and it still sounds original almost ten years on. a solid 7.

E, The Futureheads. Never was a fan to be honest, I appreciated that they were eclectic and unpredictable (not a bad thing) but they never really solidified that into something structured, which is this albums biggest failing. Not to say there arent some great songs in there, Man Ray and He Knows being personal favourites. But considering Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand were doing the same thing but better at the time, its not good enough. Id give it a 5

Pogba has gone to Juve apparently. United weren't going to pay what he/his agents were asking for.

Young Knives: Voices of Animals and Men - 6/10

Yet another album where I just think 'meh'. I really just don't like this sort of sound I'm afraid to say, I found the singing quite annoying on a couple of tracks too. Yet saying that I thought it was an reasonable album. Not offensive in any way, just not my thing.

Quite average indeed, although I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. It's in my iTunes library now so I'll probably revisit it again at some point.

Angular alternative indie rock with a pop slant?
Fairly similar.

I think the difference is Bloc Party are quite progressive, whereas The Futureheads are quite clearly stuck in the past. I get the comparison but it's not one I'd make myself.

In other news I've listened to a couple of tracks of the Young Knives album, sounds pretty decent, will finish up with a score later on. Updated to here. :-)

Listened to the Young Knives yesterday. I was looking forward to it. Got to say I was pretty disappointed. It was all just a bit dull. I liked the "I was punching your dad" lyrics on "She's attracted to". That made me laugh, but I have heard funnier "punching" lyrics (take a bow Scott Walker, with your "I'll punch a donkey on the streets of Galway"). The rest of it was a bit of a non event.

5/10

I liked this one. Quite old fashioned in sound, but with an occasional spiky, angular slant. I agree with OnlyShallow in that the lyrical content was pretty good too, some real pearls in there. "I'm the Prince Of Wales!" made me laugh. I thought Weekends and Bleakdays was the standout track. Tailed off a bit at the end, as a lot of records tend to do, and I was set to give it a six, but then I found out they're from Ashby-De-La-Zouch, which is literally down the road from me. So they can have a seven. :-)

And it's Monday again! Unsurprisingly, andretmzt is next to choose. :-)

Hmmmm, what to pick. I doubt anyone would rate anything I listen to that highly but I would at least like to try and get you into some new genre. You know what, sod it, I'll just pick an album I really like.

Defence Mechanism - Invasion of the Robot Brains from Planet Zero

Discovered these guys from listening to a Canadian DJ's podcast and immediately picked up this album. Aside from being into the general sound, I particularly like this album because of the singing style and the danceable tracks. Much better than their first album too in my opinion. I'd personally give this a 8/10.

Spotify

As album covers go that looks immense. If they sound half as good as that looks it should be ok.

Meant to be every week but spindash is lazy

Waiting for your album to reach an average of above 5.0 m8.

Album E: The Futureheads - The Futureheads (Turboman)
63 / 12 = 5.3

Album G: The Longcut - A Call And Response (Spindash)
25.5 / 5 = 5.1

Any changes to averages after this post don't count

It would be helpful if there was a download/mediafire link, like all the other albums have provided. I don't get a chance to sit and listen to music on my laptop via spotify (plus it has shitty sound).

I tried to listen to it on spotify but it sounded crap and it just annoyed me. As every second passed the albums scored got lower and lower. By the third song, the score had dropped to -486/10.

And upgrading to premium Spotify can strawberry float right off.
