HELEN FLANAGAN QUITS CORRIEQuote:
Actress Helen Flanagan is leaving Coronation Street after playing the character of Rosie Webster for 12 years.
She will finish filming in December but will be on screen until February 2012.
Helen said: “I have played Rosie Webster for more than half my life and I feel that the time has come for me move on and try something new. I am very excited about what the future might hold for me.
“I have loved playing Rosie and during my time growing up on Corrie, I have made some amazing friends and learnt an awful lot.”
Show producer Phil Collinson said: said: “We are sorry to see Helen go but wish her every success for the future.”
Helen was 9-years old when she was cast as the second actress to play Sally and Kevin Webster’s eldest daughter.
She soon became a firm favourite with fans as Rosie and mum Sally made Kevin’s life hell – forking out a fortune for private school fees and believing Rosie had the potential to be a star.
Memorable storylines followed with Rosie becoming a goth before losing her virginity at 15 to boyfriend Craig Harris and planning to run away together during a family holiday to Paris. She then started her ill-fated affair with teacher John Stape, who subsequently kidnapped her and held her captive in his grandma’s attic.
Recently Rosie has pursued her dream to become a model and has featured in Just Rosie – three spin-off episodes shown on her own website and due to be broadcast on ITV2 next week.
