He's either saying that with an obvious smirk or he's dead behind the eyes.

Lots of independent gains, but not a single Reform councillor yet. Good stuff.

I just hope the Tories don't do what UKIP did in the last election and stand down people in contested seats to let Reform in :dread:

There's no way the Tories will stand aside for Reform.

There's a possibility of the Tories offering bribes to Reform (peerages etc) to make them stand down. But even if Tice/Farage accept that, it isn't going to be anywhere near enough to save the Tory party.

Then why has it been nearly thirty years since we've seen results these bad?

Essentially the Tories are strawberry floated, whether Reform stand candidates or not. The only difference it will make is the level of how strawberry floated they are.

Apologies if this has been posted previously but the irony is just too much I can't even

BBC News wrote:Former Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson was turned away from his local polling station after forgetting to bring acceptable photo ID.

As first reported by Sky News, he returned later with the necessary ID and was able to vote.

He cast his ballot in South Oxfordshire, where voters are choosing a police and crime commissioner.

New rules requiring photo ID to vote were introduced by Mr Johnson's government in the Elections Act 2022.
