Whenever I load up the game the picture freezes on the Microsoft Games Logo but I can hear the main menu music and even my mouse moving over the option choices on the hidden main menu. I updated the game to 1.08 and 1.09 but I get the same problem; running it in compatibility mode with XP (SP2) and (SP3) as an administrator doesn't help either.

Can anyone help me?

Checked your DirectX version? If you're running Windows 7 you might need to download/install DirectX 9 manually.

I tried the link at bottom of this page which led me to this download. The file went through an install process but I'm still getting the same problem.

EDIT: dxdiag says that I'm still running DirectX 11; I can't see any sign of 9.0c
