There's a distinction between uploading a video that YOU created that happens to have someone else's audio vs. wholesale uploading a work that is someone else's IP.

Basically, unless you own the rights, you don't get to decide whether or not something goes up on Youtube.

All videos with the SLIGHTEST bit of music get banned in Germany. This law passed in 2009 I believe. Many protested against it but it still passed. I have a video of a videogame I made myself that has a 8 second bit of music in it, it got banned in Germany over the music.

In effect, 90% of youtube is blocked in Germany. I wonder, how do they get around this? They after all, the most populous nation in Europe.

Is it possible to mask out the offending audio portion without destroying the rest of the clip?

I had a tool once that could extract audio from video clips, so you could edit the waveform seperately in audacity, then merge the two back together using the old Windows Movie Maker.

Good to know, thanks. If it gets deleted I will but idk anyone in Germany who wants to see me acting like a tool for 3 mins.
