Currently enjoying the free trial of Netflix; the videos are good quality, the user interface is slick, but the range of content seems a little limited.

Simple really; how does Lovefilm compare...? Thanks folks :)

(of course I could sign up for the free trial, but this seemed like the quicker option)

As I said, instead of going through the signing up and opting out process (if needed), etc. I thought this would be quicker...... Sorry is this makes you angry :?

Lovefilm is probably better at the moment as Netflix has not yet aquired a lot of rights to show stuff in Europe. Maybe later, but for now their selection is rubbish.

For rentals , streaming, etc If you want total package lovefilms is better option but if you after streaming only Netflix wins hands down.

I have not tried Lovefilm for streaming movies/TV but have set up Netflix so I can access the US content. Amazing stuff (imo) and piss easy to do through an Xbox 360.

It's funny reading about Americans moan about not having iPlayer when they have loads of BBC archive stuff on Netflix. As well as all the movies and other stuff.

And that's ignoring that they get Hulu for free.

Bah.

Looks like Lovefilm maybe the way to go, but the your latter point concerns me a bit, is the quality not up to much? Anyhoo, enough has been said so that I think it's worth down loading it and giving it a go.... ;)

Lots of people have complained about it, but honestly I've never really had issues.

Apparently quality varies quite a lot from title to title (or it could just be a bandwidth thing with more people using Lovefilm at the moment), but everything I've ever watched has been fine.

The (free) streaming content on Lovefilm is more limited than Netflix, but a lot of the films on Netflix are terrible movies, for films I'd probably say Lovefilm has a better selection of high profile movies at the moment (this changes obviously). For TV US Netflix is amazing.

Then of course theres the disc rental thing, the vast majority of new movies don't turn up on streaming services for a good few years and even the early ones are coming months after their disc release.

Maybe go with both.

I've DL'd LF now, but I'm slightly annoyed with myself for doing so, it would have been more sensible to have each free trial in isolation, allowing me to get the most out of each and as such ascertain which would be right for me. H might be right that both could be the best option in terms of content, but I'd rather just pay for one, obviously.... I guess I'll just try to get the most out of each of them this month and plump for the one that shines the most.

So if one opts out, does your account vanish, or do they hold your details in case you want to sign up again?

Bit late but, I use Lovefilms for new Bluray rentals, and games. Streaming on Netflix is amazing though it's in HD and subtitles.

I got rid of Virginmedia tv and now pay £20 in total for Lovefilms + Netflix. I get 3 rentals at a time ( mostly games) with lovefilms and Netflix has just amazing library of tv shows, docs, films etc so I'm set.

Get both.
