Girlfriends system has been running at an all time slow lately so thought i'd do a scan for adware and found over 600 items!! I'm a complete technophobe so could anybody talk me through how to get rid of this or a let me know of a programme that will do it for me? Would be greatly appreciated.

then do a full scan with MBM just to be safe.

But what did you scan with to get 600 found items in the first place?

That sounds a lot like a scam.

That did cross my mind. Theres something that shouldnt be on this laptop thats making it run so slow though. Im running MBM right now and so far it's detected 158 objects out of 4500 scanned.

Steam: Proper Zing
Also, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. It's really good, lightweight, and best of all it's free. Comes heavily recommended from loads of people on this board.

If you've got hundreds of things showing up then you might want to give the computer a more thorough clean. This guide is really good: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
