My PC is future-proof. It can't run anything that is out now and so will be in exactly the same position in the future. 8-)

It's not future-proof. It's past-vulnerable.

Thanks for the advice Systematic and H I think the card you linked to looks for me. I have a 650w power supply will that be enough and I don't mind paying more I just thought that if I went to far I would completely unbalance my system (is that even a problem for PCs?) with the graphics card being 10 times better than everything else.
About £250 would be my limit I suppose and I definitely don't want a dual card.

Pete,

I wouldn't buy a graphics card until Nvidia's Kepler launches. Even if you want to go for AMD, chances are AMD will reduce their prices when these cards are released. The launch is imminent so there shouldn't be too long to wait.

ok thanks for the advice.
I'm not really all that bothered at the moment but I'm about to hopefully come into a bit of cash from the woolies compensation scheme (for the shocking job they did with our redundancies) and I was thinking for a second about maybe jazzing up my PC. The next game I'm looking forward to is Diablo 3 and by the looks of it my machine should handle that without modification but I'm a bit of a graphics whore at heart and I like to have things on maximum settings.
Would it be better to wait a couple of years and just build a completely new rig rather than spend now and only get a slight upgrade as I have no idea if any sort of Crysislike major leaps are expected.

Thinking of building a PC for use as a home cinema, been looking at the AMD APU's are they any good? Or Should I just get a raspberry Pi and plug my external hard drive in it?

EDIT: Also I want to use it for netflix.

Nope, total waste of time and space. They often break, are too low, slide around on their own for no reason etc.

Yeah they're ok. Dont expect mega power but they do the trick for a simple HTPC. You could also look at Intel i3's and ITX motherboards.

I may have missed it, but I dont think you gave the rest of your PC specs. CPU, Socket, RAM would be nice and then we can offer something more useful to you.

Me and you are normal at least. 8-)

Is Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate any better than Home Premium?
Can get it for free, but I don't think it has any advantages...

The idea of needing a new graphics card for a Diablo game is anathema to me.

I'd bet my left testicle that you'd be able to handle Diablo 3 maxed out with your current setup.

You'll probably be able to max D3 as is, though if you do want a new card for newer technology etc (I cant remember if the 4xxx series even does DX11) then definately wait for nvidia kepler.

My machine struggles with dx 10 to be honest. I tried it with crysis when I was at the ending but it kept fudging up and crashing after playing perfectly well on dx9.
