I know most of you thought the conference was terrible, but try and look past it to what the Wii U is going to be when its here.

What we have is a brand new console, able to at least keep up with 360/PS3 technically and with Nintendo developed franchises coming, those games that they didn't show? They will turn up at some point.

As far as I'm concerned the only thing still up in the air is the depth of 3rd Party support. EA have said their Sports games will be coming, Activision have said they will support it...but if we get most big new 3rd Party titles in 2013 on Wii U at the same time as 360 and PS3, thats still up in the air. It could happen, but we can't count on it at the moment.

So given all that answer the question. Wii U, or no Wii U?

I'm probably just going to buy one next gen console to compliment my PC, if that, and I highly doubt that's going to be a Wii U. Like the Wii before it it's almost certainly going to end up starved of multiformat titles due to its lack of power (and I'd want a system that could do them justice anyway), and I've yet to see a single compelling use of the gamepad outside of minigames.

As for Nintendo first party stuff, for some reason the appeal of those has really slipped away for me over the last year or two, I have no compulsion whatsoever to buy the last Zelda game for instance, despite loving the series up to then.

Basically it would take something amazing to convince me to buy the Wii U.

They really should launch in black to further differentiate it from the original Wii.

Next gen consoles probably won't be out till 2014 now. Not sure if that makes a difference to you.

Also the size of the install base on 360 and PS3 coupled with a growing Wii U market, makes it seems unlikely that publishers will drop their titles bound for those 3 platforms even when the 'next gen' systems come out.

The next Xbox and PS4 will be coming into a market unlike the launch of any new generation of consoles we've yet seen.

You'll be buying one at launch.

Microsoft didn't mention the Xbox 360 at E3 2004, but they managed to launch in 2005.

But there weren't leading the console market in 2004 or 2005. Its a totally different landscape now.

Not getting one until the black one is out, white consoles are ugly, especially glossy ones.

It's a shame, it was a day one purchase now it's a 'later'

We know launch 'window' titles. We can speculate on price (£200-£300) and I don't see any way both colours aren't available in the first 12 months.

Apparently (according to neogaf) the launch games are Wii Fit, Darksiders 2, Dance Something 4, Game & Wario and P-100.

If that's true, I don't think i'll bother, wanted Nintendo Land and Tank Tank Tank at least.
