Going to buy one but there are so many!

Blur, Split/Second, Need for Speed 1 or 2 or 7 or 9... can anyone recommend one or tell me which ones to avoid?

Forza 4, F1 2012 and F1 2011 are very good, very sim like so if you want the arcade driftyness they aren't for you.

It's getting on a bit now but Project Gotham 4 still takes some beating.

If you want arcadey style I'd put NFS: Most Wanted or Burnout Paradise ahead of Split Second or Blur though the latter is very good too.

Flat out: Ultimate Carnage is another oldie but an absolute corker.

If you want realism Forza 4's the one to get.

If you like simulation, there's Forza which I've been told is very good, otherwise if you like arcade-games try the following - PGR3, Blur & Burnout Revenge and Burnout Paradise. There's also Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (original and Transformed).

There's also others but the games I listed are only ones I've played personally apart from Forza, which I won't like due to not liking GT5 and similar games but my best mate loves it.

I'll always recommend Grid above all else. I've spent a ridiculous number of hours playing the fun and varied career mode, and the handling model straddles the line between arcade and sim very nicely.

Along with that, I'm with HailToTheKing on Project Gotham 4. Another game that combines arcade and sim handling to produce a truly fantastic experience.

Forza Horizon is another great racer, mixing more realistic handling with an open world. Plenty of cars and customisation too, which'll keep you going for ages.

If you have a semi-capable PC then I'd recommend Race 07 and its expansions (Race Injection has everything bundled into one package) as a wonderful sim experience with some of the best AI I've seen.

Thanks guys. :)

I'd forgotten about GRID. I'm trying to separate the games into realistic/arcadey... what would you say GRID is?

Currently watching a video on Blur. Just watched one on Split/Second but it seemed like one of those games where your car can be wayyyy out in front.

Another vote for Grid here. Forza's great but a bit dry for my tastes.

I'm sure there are better driving games but I've been playing the new Sonic Transformed game on the wii u which is also on the 360 and as a racing game it really is great.

Being completely honest, Grid is more of an arcade experience. It has plenty of realism in many areas but overall its pretty arcadey.

Has better AI than near enough every other racer though, which is very important.

Get PGR4. Best driving game on the 360.

Dirt 2 or 3, PGR 4, Forza 4 or maybe Sonic Transformed.

PGR 4 and GRID get my votes. Both brilliant. PGR 4 in particular.

I've got Blur and Forza 3 as well, but they didn't really do anything for me. Forza I found dull, and Blur got frustrating and the power-ups just pissed me off.

From playing some of these that are on PC I can vouch for Dirt 2, Dirt 3, GRID, Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Shift 2 and Flatout Ultimate Carnage.

Cheers for mentioning Race Injection Agent47, was looking at that on steam a while ago and couldn't work out the best way to get them all - will wait for the sale before possibly giving it a punt - this is probably a heretical question, but is it playable with a 360 pad?

PGR4, Burnout Paradise, and DiRT 2 or 3 (3 if you prefer more conventional rallying) for definite.

Forza 4 if you want a more Gran Turismo styled experience.

Flatout Ultimate Carnage if you want something a bit like Destruction Derby, though the handling of the cars is a bit weak and it can be pretty frustrating at times.

Split/Second is good but the difficulty becomes ludicrous, and the handling goes to gooseberry fool. Production values are excellent, and watching stuff blow up on the various tracks is good fun the first few times you see it.

PGR is the only racing series that's hit my sweet spot between arcade and serious racing. And it's dead now  .
