The forgotten 5th generation consoles that KKLEIN didn't include in the 'Saturn, PlayStation, N64' poll. Did you actually own any of these?

The 3DO really intrigued me back in the day, the plan was that 3DO would become a ubiquitous format just like CD or DVD but for gaming. It had support from alot of big electronics brands like Panasonic, GoldStar (LG), Sanyo and Samsung. As with the Saturn, it was too expensive and was completely ignored, which was a shame because it had next-gen versions of all of EA's big franchieses a year before the PS and Saturn came out.

The Atari Jaguar was also intriguing as it was the dominant brand in the 70s and early 80s, I really believed back in the day that Jaguar would compete with the MegaDrive and SNES, and later with the PlayStation and Saturn. Sadly developers completely ignored it.

As for the Amiga CD-32, all I remember is playing a game in Comet with this guy in it...

The Atari Jaguar itself was really nicely designed, albeit a bit of a rip-off of the PAL MegaDrive 2. The controller was awful though, particularly the lumpy texture.

The other Amiga's weren't really consoles though, the poll's for the other fifth generation consoles that KKLEIN didn't mention.

Didn't know any of these and didn't know about these consoles in the day.

Didn't have a 3DO, but I was very, very taken with the prospects of the Panasonic M2.

D2, in particular, was that one game I really had my eyes on for that console. To this day, I do wish that I had got a chance to have a go with this particular iteration of the game.

I had a Panasonic 3D0. Ahead of it's time apart from the single speed CD drive. I adored Street Fighter on it.

The CD-32 was cool because you could stick a keyboard, mouse and disk drive on it and it basically became a souped-up Amiga 1200. I did nearly buy an Atari Jaguar for $10 in Babbages when I was in Florida about 16 years ago but I ended up buying a Sega Nomad instead.

I think we all know I made the right choice 8-)

I remember being amazed by the graphics when all of these consoles came out. I was only a kid so I was allowed one console at a time, and I was tempted by all of these pieces of crap, but fortunately held out for a Playstation. It was very difficult though, as playing Need for Speed on the 3DO set up in Future Zone ( ) and then going home to my Mega Drive and Amiga made me sad.

Three totally forgettable piles of gooseberry fool.

Amiga CD-32 was DOA.

I remember seeing FIFA running on the 3DO in the early 90's. I thought the 3DO would be the future of video gaming for years to come. Then we all realised it wouldn't be.

I remember the Jaguar launch. I went in to HMV & the Virgin Megastore the Saturday after launch, they had them piled to the ceiling. They couldn't even give it away. No one gave a gooseberry fool about it.

The thing is, the CD32 was just an A1200 in disguise. It really was.

I only ever rememember Jaguar being sold in Debenhams. Only remember seeing 3DO and CD-32 being sold in Comet too.
