I've tried to post two messages in here over the last few weeks and they haven't appeared...

Ok, so it seems I'm able to post in here now...

While I find Uppa's posts horrendously over the top, I can appreciate some of the sentiment behind them.

For me, Ocarina of Time was the closest a videogame has come to telling a classic fairytale. You've got a hero, a princess, a castle, and some wonderful locations. For me the best part was the chemistry between Link and Zelda and Link and Sheikh (especially the bit when learning the Bolero of Fire).

Also, meeting Zelda for the first time, and the ending too, when Zelda has to say goodbye to Link. It's like a love story, but it's never said out loud and it's never more than hinted at.

I really liked playing the game when it was night time.Runnig around exploring had a kind of spookey charm to it.
And I did actually quite enjoy the water temple in the end.

I just don't think those magic moments will ever come back to be honest and I am in the process of slowing down my gaming habit as its getting in the way of me doing new things.

I will always appreciate the fact that I got to experience games like OOT, Mario 64 and Shenmue when they were released, but the current gen has seen a major shift towards casual and online gaming, things I cannot say I appreciate too much.

OOT was developed at a time when games were finished when the developer was fully happy with it, not strategically released at a time to make more money or to cash in. Twilight Princess possibly comes close to the sheer depth and breadth of a game world, but nothing can beat OOT's charm and magic conjured up by the music and characters.

I loved the boss fights, Phantom Ganon was undoubtedly my favourite one. I thought it was the end of the game, Ganon is here, on an angry looking horse, staring me right in the face, this gooseberry fool got real. He puts on a mask, boss battle music kicks in, the stallion and rider float into the air and they both jump into the painting. The following stuff was highly memorable for me, looking around and trying to find what painting he was going to appear from and the epic energy bolt tennis.

Cutscenes. The arrival to Hyrule Castle after completing Jabu Jabu's belly. The sealing of Link for seven years. Kakariko Village in flames, Sheik and the fire in his/her eyes. The ending sequence, where the sages appear at the top of Death Mountain and the music reaches it's crescendo.

I haven't played OoT this year. Bloody hell.
