It's probably one of the strangest games I've ever played. Very linear and with an unorthodox approach to levelling and combat but a half decent, reasonably well told, batshit insane story and the combat being quite tactical at times (think MMA with a lot less flurries). Didn't really live up to the mystique that had built up around it during its protracted making but if you stick with it there's some decent stuff in there.

Try it by nefarious means before buying I say.

For me one of the best N64 games is Shadowman. I know it was availiable on other consoles but the nintendo version allegedly has better controls. It's got the best story of any game I have played. Such a brilliant idea for a game, the levels have great atmosphere. The platforming & fighting elements can't hold a candle to the best competitors but they are perfectly acceptable and mildly enjoyable. It's all about the story and exploration, similar in a way to Metroid Prime.

If it has one flaw, its that it requires a memory pak and I'm dubious any of those will still work nowadays. Avoid the sequel, it feels like it was made by an entirely different team

Nah, I completed the game a few years ago though. Very long it was too, but if I remember rightly it stayed good right to the end. That was one of the problems with Okami, after 50 hours it just got to much.

Heres the link if your intrested though gotta love the music on shadowman.

I liked that with some N64 games made the game and money spent on it worthwhile getting that amount of play on a simple game Zelda OOT, Turok 2 Mario64 all had over 50 hrs of gameplay something i find lacking in most games nowadays

Thanks for the ShareAw thanks sweetie I needed that today. lol
Cheers.

Its weird but the console was just so magical. Even now playing on Majoras Mask feels so great, its the way the graphics, music and gameplay pull you into the world of Termina. Very few games do that nowadays, even Twilight Princess failed to do so imo.

LOL I remember bits of it. The level certainly was not one of the strongest, the boss was though!

For me Zelda needs to be reinvented to be kept fresh, I do hope they do not keep the Twilight Princess art style. For me they have to have more memorable characters by cutting down the number of characters in the game and for the music to be more catchy, the Termina Field theme is just so awesome!

Though it's not really orchestrated, it's still a fairly nice rendition. Would have changed my experience of Twilight Princess quite a bit if this was the main field music.

Super Mario 64 is the best video game of all time and yet people voting here have shunned it :| You people don't deserve to play games with voting like this :x

Ocarina of Time / Super Mario 64 / Banjo Kazooie are easily the three best games of all time. Compare them to games these days. The newer games lack depth, storyling and the emotion that the old N64 games have. I'd rather spend countless hours playing them 3 then any modern game

Ocarina of Time is easily up there with Mario but Banjo? It is a poor mans Mario 64.

It's weird that I wasn't in to Rare at all as my brother loved each and every one of their games. I just wasn't as easily impressed :shifty:

Yeah, I know.

In my defence, one of my mates bought an N64 at the same time, so we tried not to double-up on purchases.

That said, I only borrowed Mario 64 for a weekend before giving it back to him.

I was happy with Lylat Wars, GoldenEye and Yoshi's Story.
