The Zelda retrospectives

Though if I were being picky, in TP Link doesn't turn into a Wolf at night (Twilight), and depending on your definition, Spirit Tracks isn't really a direct sequel of Phantom Hourglass it's not the same Link or Zelda.

Great stuff though, some details I hadn't heard from Anouma before as well

Yeah, you're right on both counts. I was muddling my definition of 'direct sequel' I think, as it's not a sequel in story terms but definitely in gameplay terms. That wasn't so clear! The Twilight thing was just a mistake, though.

Glad you enjoyed it though! Nice that some of the Aonuma stuff was all new to people aswell.

Anyway, latest update: Bayonetta review: http://tinyurl.com/yjn6m9a

Fantastic review there Thongings, and it's certainly made me quite anxious to play it. It's rare I play games like this, mainly because there are so few of them.

Thanks for the comments chap, much appreciated. :)

For your further reading pleasure, my colleague Nick has done a rather nice BioShock 2 preview, check it: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... eview.html

More BioShock 2 goodness from Nick Cowen: http://tinyurl.com/yk2d828

Interview with Jordan Thomas. Sharp bloke, rather lofty aspirations for the game it has to be said. An excellent read.

Some spoilers for the first game, but nothing I'd personally call a spoiler for 2. There's some character info and background -including the villain- but no plot points as such.

It's mostly about the literary aspirations of the game, so if you're into that it really is a great read. I haven't read anything like it yet either.

Interesting stuff, might be worth linking to that in the Bioshock 2 thread so more people get a chance to read it. :)

Haven't updated this in a while. So what do we got?

Heavy Rain review by me, I've endeavoured to keep it as spoiler free as possible. The only thing I go into much detail on specific scenes is the prologue, which won't spoil the story: http://tinyurl.com/ykojjmg

Endless Ocean 2 review by our rudderless: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... eview.html

Also by rudderless a fascinating Q&A with the devs of Silent Hill Shattered Memories: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... rview.html

Mass Effect 2 review by Nick: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... eview.html

And a Split/Second preview: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... eview.html

There are some other bits and bobs worth looking at too, if you're so iinclined. A Red Dead Redemption preview and a good look at Broken Sword iPhone.

Read, comment, enjoy!

I like to read several posts worth in a row Thongings, your work is appreciated. :)

The Heavy Rain reviews very good, it does seem better to describe the user as a director rather than a player. Not sure about the bit in the Cage interview that refers to purchasing the game as a political decision though.

The Fable stuff leaves me cold as there's more vagueness from the king of the letdown, Mr Molyneux. No doubt at least a couple of the things mentioned will be cut or drastically reduced by the time the game's released. The whole followers mechanic will probably be reduced to "do a certain number of quests" before the next piece of the story can be begin.

Nah, I'm not either. People should buy Heavy Rain because it's an excellent, unique experience, not because of some 'political point'. Personally, I think that's what Cage should be saying. But I didn't do that interview (something which is the point of much contention round here.) :shifty:
