I stuck in Killzone yesterday with the intention of finishing it but couldn't because it was rubbish. So then I tried to at least finish the first level, but no, it's really very poor. It makes me angry and frustrated and hungry and I hate it and it's going in the bin. Worst game I've played since SSX3.

2/10

I was off ill the last few days an decided to bash through Fahrenheit in all the Heavy Rain excitement.

I know we all go on about how it takes a downward turn towards the end and it did have me thinking 'was it really that bad?'

Yes, yes it was. Batshit crazy. And not in a good way.

The whole AI thing is just so strawberry floating leftfield, doesn't make ANY sense whatsoever and isn't explained in the slightest. And let's not get started on the whole 'fighting in midair' shite. Some of Lucas' abormal abilities I didn't mind at all, but for the love of GOD why did they have to go so far?

It's still a damn good adventure game for the most part and if they had just stuck with the paranormal rather than the mental is would be pretty highly regarded imo. Shame it's soiled so heavily at the end. I hope Heavy Rain can make up for it.

7/10

I've just finished Braid. Terrific game, but I really, really struggled with some of the puzzles! Good sense of achievement, though.

8/10

Halo 2:

This started off brilliantly; fantastic locations and exciting missions. Then when you start playing as the Arbiter it starts to turn into Halo 1. The Master Chief sections become boring and it just becomes a slog through boring levels with endless enemies. I often found myself simply rushing through without bothering to shoot at anyone.

Boring boring boring. Why are these games rated so highly? I remember playing multiplayer with eight players a while ago and found that dull.

Smash Bros Brawl,

Button masher,no depth and little skill needed, awful

[3]

Nights Journey Of Dreams,

Totally inferior to the glorious Saturn version :( They should have just left the memories.

[4]

Soul Calibur IV,

Lacks the depth of Virtua Fighter, nice character creation though.

Worked for me, repeat same move over and over, totally unbalanced characters and puddle deep gameplay. It's like my first button masher, only novelty value unlocks cracked a smile. Had all three versions now and it is simply the most overrated series in gaming, utterly pointless.

I'll agree with you that there are imbalanced characters, but button bashing simply doesn't work where the game is meant to be played most: in multiplayer! Have you not tried taking it online? If you get into games with people on here you'll find yourself without a single victory if you stick to just button bashing.

Unless you play against Hexx.

Over the last two or three days I've finally killed off three mostly great games - Final Fantasy IX, No More Heroes and Shenmue.

Final Fantasy IX - I'd probably score it 9/10, its become my second favourite FF after VII. I much prefer the pre-rendered FFs to the newer ones, I feel they carry more atmosphere and that more thought has gone into the art design. I've been playing this on/off for about a year and although I'm glad its off my to do list, theres now a great big RPG shaped hole in my life that needs filling.

NMH - I just don't know. 7/10? I love the cut-scenes (it feels like what would happen if Tarantino made a game) and I like how self-aware it is, but too many technical things - deliberate or not - annoy me. The script is brilliant though.

Shenmue - Either 6 or 7/10. It would have been tremendously impressive at the time, but now its clunky and awkward. I felt the presentation of the story was a little amateurish, and Ryo's much too wet for my liking.

GTA IV - Finally finished it... I love the game world it looks amazing, some of the physics and handling is awesome. However.... Missions are boring, and repetitive, with very little new introduced, even if something new was introduced like clambering on the back of a van, it would not be used again.

The last mission had one of the worst issues possible, instant death with nothing you could do about it. If it had just happened once I could of forgiven it, but to happen a second time was unforgivable. Fortunately I did it my next try, I was close to walking away from it when it happened.
First time it was after I dropped off the chopper to get in the boat, as soon as I started up the boat it got hit with a rocket launcher. Second time was after I got into the chopper from the boat, I got hit instantly with a rocket launcher while the camera was still swinging round for me taking control

Oh and the story was pretty rubbish as well
6/10
Think I may go read the Edge review again to see what I am missing.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Mrs Octoroc commented on how nice the game looks; the jungle environments look great, but get a bit samey after a while, but it's a solid well-made game with good combat, good controls, a fair story and the final section is excellent.

A great Platinum purchase.

I shall award it a self-important score of [Octor / Octoroc] or 71.428571% if you prefer.

HL2:Episode One
I started playing this about half an hour after I completed HL2 which made it a bit of an anti climax, I know this is unfair as HL2 was one of the most enjoyable endings I have every experianced.

There isn't much to say other than it carries on the HL2 experiance briliantly and leaves me excited to play Episode 2.
