Tasks will be up this late this evening sometime - need to iron out what I am doing with the quizzing round. You will have ample time for the creative task, and we will be booking timeslots for the quizzing task.
I watched the video with no sound on, so had no idea the tasks were decided then too.
I probably would have preferred a creative round to be honest, as I reckon Tragic probably has a more extensive gaming knowledge than I do. Certainly, he will own, and have played, more games.
Yeah I know - I was just saying my preference was to get the creative round.
Just started Fable 3, and I got a notification after 7 minutes saying I had played longer than Tragic. So I hope any task is based upon the remaining part of the game.
I always look to see what has changed in gaming since the last time the contest was run and try and keep the competition relevant by addressing things that are happening in the games industry right now. However, a seminal event occured during the hiatus since the contest was last on - and that was simply that it was confirmed that videogames had hit the mainstream for good when of all people Disney made a movie based on the medium we love so much.
'Wreck It Ralph' made $470,000,000 dollars in the box office and its presence for our passion should be celebrated. Whilst critical reception was nearer the 'good' then the 'great' - it cannot be argued that there wasn't a great passion for games behind its creation and that is why its the subject for your semi-final challenge.
In this task, I am asking you to create either;
A) A synopsis for a sequel to 'Wreck It Ralph' to appear in cinemas and to build on the success of the first film.
or
B) A video game based on the first film that takes it in a direction thats more unusual then merely 'a movie tie-in'.
You may use up to 1000 words (give or take 10%) to create your idea for your movie or game, and you may also use 2 pictures. You have until 6pm ON SUNDAY to submit your ideas, and voting will be an open vote for anyone who wishes to vote, and they will simply voting on who wins each head-to-head.
Now, I realise not all of you may have seen the film. However, you are being given ample time to go and WATCH IT if you are yet to see it. You are being given ample time to go and see the film through any of the multitude of ways you can. Not seeing it will not be an excuse for non-submittal - really as a gamer you should have seen it! So if you haven't please rectify that so you can do this task to the best of your ability!
Good luck to our creative head-to-headers!

Some of you may not know that for a short spell I worked on BBC FOUR hit 'Only Connect' - which is a fantastic show run with some amazing people and a great host, and you should watch it! Its the hardest gameshow on TV and all the better for it. Plus it has Victoria Coren. Shes awesome.
For those who haven't seen it - the premise is simple. You will be given four connections, and the earlier you can buzz in and tell me the connection, the more points you will get! Much like the other task - if you want to know what you will be facing - please check out 'Only Connect' on the BBC iPlayer as the rounds will be the same - but merely gaming themed. The rounds will be Connections, Sequences and then Missing Vowels. There will be no 'Wall' round.
For the first time in GGGC history - a LIVE QUICK-FIRE final style round will be taking place during the semis. Both match-ups will meet me in the GRCade chatbox at a pre-arranged time to take on each other head to head, with the player scoring the most points advancing to the Grand Final!
You must agree a time between you and then agree that time with me. The game will take about half an hour.
The times I will be available for running your head to heads will be...
FRIDAY - ALL DAY UP UNTIL 7.30pm SATURDAY - EVENING SUNDAY - EVENING MONDAY - ALL DAY UP UNTIL 5pm
The player who gets more points will win, and the loser will be eliminated. Get talking to your opponent and arrange a time with me!
Good luck guys!
