Fantastic news and a great chance for those who didn't own a Dreamcast to play it.

Future is definitely the better game. Having played both for the first time at about the same time, I never really got the love for the original; the sequel just made it seem a little obsolete. Glad that this is making its way onto PSN and XBLA though, hopefully it'll sell well and make Sega consider a next-gen version.

I had no idea people actually preferred the sequel. I can't even remember any of it.

I can only assume that you'd prefer the original if you played it loads, when it first came out.

Subjectively speaking there's no doubt which is superior (in my opinion anyway).

I may need to play JSRF again to judge. All I can actually remember is that the soundtrack was worse (see: Grace & Glory).

Jet Set Radio - Easily my favourite Dreamcast game. Which is saying something.

Oh and Guitar Vader

In fact the soundtracks for both games were awesome.

Edit: Was it the Japanese or US/UK version that had extra levels in it?

I remember back in 2001 I was rapidly falling out of love with gaming. The end of the PS1 and N64 era left me cold once I had bled Perfect Dark and Majora's Mask dry.

Then my friend gave me a pirated copy of Jet Grind Radio and it was like a creative explosion. I bought JSR when it got a PAL release and never looked back. A huge city to explore, killer soundtrack and Professor K: what more did you need?

I remember it being pretty tough too. I could never get passed the train track level that introduced the ghetto blaster guy.

All new PSN games should be Vita compatible.

Beloved Dreamcast relic Jet Set Radio is heading to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, judging by a teaser trailer just released by Sega. The clip, titled Guess Who's Back, was posted on the Sega blog earlier today and briefly shows the game's logo. There's no mention of a release date or whether any new content will be included.

They're very explicit about it being a port of the original game, but still.

This has been finished for well over a year as it was first leaked from PartnerNet back then. It was a straight up port then, so I'd be gobsmacked if Sega bothered to do anything with it.

I dunno, I always thought the first one was far superior. Future was greyer, more mature, less tongue in cheek, and a lot harder to boot. It was still pretty close between the two of them though.

Can't say I'm not getting a bit sick of all the re-releases though. How about we get a new Jet Set Radio, Sega? Maybe even for the Wii U - it'd certainly use the tablet controller properly.

But of course, that would be taking a risk, and publishers don't like doing that - regardless of how crappily all their "low risk" established franchises sell lately.

Jet Set Radio is just one of those games that really grabbed my imagination. Is it the best game ever? No. Is it one of the most exciting gaming experiences I've had - absolutely. I'm very big on the fusion of good music and good gaming, so this was a seminal title for me personally. I don't often consider it for my top twenty games, perhaps I should...

I played so much of this on the Dreamcast, so will definitely get the XBLA version unless there's a major screw up with it.

The score attack multiplier manouvers on jet set radio were really good, but unfortunately too many of the later levels where gooseberry fool. The levels in jet set radio future were a lot better but they removed the multipliers. If they HD remade future but included the multipliers and the soundtrack from the first game i might be interested. But as it stands, i think i will give my rose tinted spectacles a rest on this one.

The game was pretty mediocre but the soundtrack made it worth playing.
