Prompted by me coming across this:

(If you can get past the annoying voice/mannerisms of the reviewer it's not a bad watch).

Now when I was a wee nipper I LOVED Hook on the NES. I remember paying £40 for it from a Dixons...the chap had to get it out of the glass display case...

I played it for hours, days even...I don't think I even completed it (not being the ultra compotent pro gamer I am now :shifty: ), but I still loved it. I lost whole afternoons to trying to complete it...I tried different levels, different routes, explored them throughout...one of them you have a metal detector and you can search for treasure...I think I did the entire thing!

But looking at that video...naff me is it a terrible game!

What games did you love as a child that you now realise were, ahem, "vomit in a cartridge".

3DS #: needs accounts

I spent 40 pounds on this the day it came out. Went home, witnessed the horror, but played it to death anyway because I just couldn't admit how terrible it really was.

I mean, jesus. Look at the state of it.

Go start your "denial of youth" thread! You're not meant to know how terrible things are.

Such as this:

This:

And this, the hardest racing game ever made:

But yeah, Rise of the Robots is the obvious stand-out.

I thought that was a reasonably good demo.

Not that I hated it but I have a suspicion it might not hold up quite so well these days...

I have a feeling that every game I had on my Atari Lynx might qualify for this thread.

Actually, I think Rygar might have actually been pretty good.

These are some of my worst purchases.

Pit Fighter (Master System)
Shaq Fu (Megadrive)
Hyper Lode Runner (Gameboy)
Hi-octane (Saturn)
Hardcore 4x4 (Saturn)
Fighters Destiny (N64)
Rumble Racing (PS2)
Eve of Extinction (PS2)

after the PS2 my taste must have dramatically improved as I can't really think of anything truly horrific that I bought myself, although someone did buy me Driv3r a couple of years back.

Holy gooseberry fool, my friend and I used to be in tears over the demo of this. So funny. I can still remember some of the lines.

"Grain grain grain...just picking up grain here!"
"Ah...another beautiful day on ant island"

And then you'd be doing something and he'd suddenly come out with "GOTTA get to the ant hill!"

Doubt it seems funny on here, but we were in stitches. Terrible game and hilarious voice acting.
