So just a quick question. I bought the collection, but never played MGS before. There's a shop where I live selling a PS1 for £5 and MGS for £15, would it be worth my while jumping in on that first?

If you got PSP or PS3 already, you can get MGS1 for much cheaper and digitally off PSN. But if not, then yeah I'll recommend it personally.

PSPGo. That's a good shout, cheers!

Tanker done. Really enjoying revisiting this after so many years. It's aged really well. Anyone else find MGS2 to be quite dark? Had to up my tv brightness a little, which I hate doing as its fine for every other game. Annoying you can tweak the in-game brightness. Anyone else finding this with MGS2?

strawberry float sake hunting down The End is a right pain in the arse. Don't have the Thermal Goggles either so it's taking far longer than it should.

Use the... ah.

I'm pretty much done with MGS2 and MGS3 I think. I really enjoyed my second MGS3 playthrough - getting all the kerotans, camouflage, food types etc.

I'm going to leave Peace Walker and play that later in the year, I'm pretty MGS'd out.

It is very dark, the plant section is lighter though.

Do you get camos for tranquilizing the bosses in MGS 3?

Yep.

The End being the exception, you need to sneak up on him and threaten him a bit before he gives you camo. You get his sniper rifle if you tranq him.

Yeah there are two "missable" dogtags in the Tanker level. The one is in the bomb area just before the Olga boss battle. After you defeat Olga, the sole soldier patrolling the "bomb" area should be moved to the upper part.

Take him out, hide him and another solider should come up the stairs.

Another one is at the second bomb area where a soldier enters and radioed in. Hold him up AFTER he finish his radio conversation.

There may be more that I don't know.

Also I forget where the strawberry float the Socom suppressor is in the Tanker level. Help!

You have to climb up that big ladder, right at the top of the ship (I can't remember what the top of a ship is called, whatever the 'roof' is  ) , you can get it there just after fighting Olga. Although I have a feeling it might only be there on certain lower difficulty levels, not sure.

I went up the ladder I think you're talking about on Normal and got the T. Goggles there.

It's not there. (And I was playing it on Very Easy. Sod playing Normal then go back playing it on Very Easy and get all the dog tags.)

Woah are you sure? The thermal goggles should be right at the top, and the suppressor on the first or second landing from that ladder. I'm sure it's there on easy/very easy... This is bothering me, I have the guide at home, I'll check tonight!

edit: I think, the suppressor isn't there in MGS2: Sons of Liberty, they added it in Substance. I think. So it has to be there, I've been using it!

last edit: realised my guide is, of course, for Sons of Liberty, so no explanation on a socom suppressor. :(

Well, I have started playing it on Normal. Just finished the bomb disposal. I will load up the game and see if the supressor is there when I've finished this playthrough.

And I didn't know Johnny was in MGS2!

The suppressor and thermal goggles were in that spot on Very Easy, Easy and Medium for me. I seem to remember on the PS2 back in the day the suppressor would not be there sometimes.

Has anyone noticed that the crates that block you from going down into the engine room are sometimes not there before you fight Olga? Surely you could just skip the Olga fight completely?!?

It's not the crates that block you it's the C4. You can't get past the sensors without Olga's Socom.

That's what I thought, but I couldn't see The Pain's Hornet camo after beating him.

It's on the platform he was standing on when you fought him. Not sure how you get up there though.

Near the exit is a little ramp to the right that goes up to a section of rock that over hangs his platform, roll off that to get to it

Peace Walker is brilliant. The ability to rank up all the different divisions and basically build your own army is ace.

The fact that the missions are bite sized as well is great, with most MGS games I am playing for 6 hours straight but with this I can play for an hour and come back and still know whats happening.

Right... I've completed the main game on Normal. I loaded up my save file and started playing Tanker on Very Easy (and Easy) and the Socom Supressor is there. On Hard, it isn't there. So I'm guessing that it will pop up when you've finished it on Hard.

Also I'm doing the VR/Alternative Missions with Raiden. I'm determined to grab all the achievements before moving on to MGS3.
