That's the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME you're talking about there.

There isn't even a hint of 'arguably', genuine belief right there? Madness.

The games are good but have aged badly. Having played just Mgs2 in this collection, probably brings my total number of play thoughts of the game, across formats to 5 or so, it really is nostalgia driving this beast. After the latest play through, I had no urge whatsoever for 3 or peace walker,
(never played them) and I've moved on to other games.

When the Mgs wave was riding high, these were great games for the time, I just really don't think Mgs2 stands up well today. I'm struggling to see the love for it, as a stand alone game today, judged by today's standards?!

Play 3 just to see how hilariously wrong you are, especially if you've never played it before. The only thing that's aged badly are the stupidly awkward controls. If you want to actively avoid one of the best games ever then it's your loss, really.

Got this today, didn't want to make the same mistake I made with Subsistence and miss out altogether given it seems to be a limited print, sold out at plenty of places. Doubt I'll start it anytime soon but think I'll roll with MGS3 first as I'm embarassed to say I've never actually completed it!

What's the reload button in Snake Eater on PS3?

I wish there was a reload button in MGS2. I can understand why there isn't - as you're supposed to think on your feet and react to situations even if things go bad - but usually when that happens I just deliberately get myself killed anyway.

Dunno if this has any significance at all or if it's just the usual Kojima troll, but this image is hidden on this Konami job listings page http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/gdc2012/detail_en.html

Hope the next game is a direct sequel to Peace Walker.

There isn't one, just tap L2 twice. Unlike in the 3DS version where you can reload..

I will play it, and I'm happy to eat my words on 3. But, it doesn't disguise that 2 has shocking controls. Back in the day the 'interactive movie' concept was pretty new, and that's what was so good about it, things have moved on massively.... KOTOR, half life (2), mass effect, Alan wake etc, to name a few.

I hope 3 improves on 2, and I hope the way the story is told improves over the codec heavy last few hours of 2. I'll try 3 at the weekend.

Personally I'd like it to take place over 2 inter twining story lines. One where Naked Snake is young, before the events of MGS3 and he's still learning gooseberry fool (could be reminiscing about The Boss and gooseberry fool, as he likes to do) and the other story line to be set after Peace Walker.

Could be good, everyone knows how awesome and bad ass Naked Snake is but it'd be cool to see it compared to when he was a rookie. It'd make him even more badass, if he was like noob when he was young.

Although it might be hard, MGS3 is the story line that shaped everything about Big Boss so seeing him as a rookie might not have much of an impact. You know, 'cause nothing as huge, life changing could happen to him as in MGS3.

I dunno, maybe it could work. Maybe it'd be really cool. Maybe it'd be gooseberry fool. I dunno, I'm just rambling I think.

The next MGS definitely needs Big Boss though, not Solid Snake.

MGS2 is a ten year old game. The controls are obviously not going to be as well developed as say, MGS4. MGS2, at least, holds up well graphically. The cut scenes do drag on forever but it's still an awesome game. My most played Metal Gear game. Probably my most re-played game of all time. The amount of detail in the game is astounding, especially in the Tanker section. It was just a playground where I felt like I could do anything. I spent hours torturing guards, masturbating in lockers and melting ice. Such a crazy strawberry floating game.

But yes, anyone who likes good games needs to play Snake Eater at least once in their life. It's essential.

Looking at the pic it's clearly more naked snake
Possibly the creation of the foxhound unit?

I'd like a modern game set in outer heaven, perhaps role reversal and have armed hostiles taking control of outer heaven looking to seize metal gear zeke, and big boss has to reclaim it die hard style. One man army 8-)

Yeah, and then I hope they fill the game with lots of pretentious bullshit, and multiple hours of dreary cutscenes.

Oh, and quick time events. Definitely needs quick time events.

That's a great idea! I want that one!

Although if you think about it, if that did happen, it'd be really weird that he managed to protect Outer Heaven from a huge infiltration army and then in Metal Gear, being unable to stop one man (Solid Snake) from strawberry floating the whole place up.

You all know the critia for getting the bosses' camos in MGS3?

Tranquilisers only during the boss battles?

Fear. I managed to get his stamnia down to really low.

He managed to find one of those sodding mushrooms that restored his stamnia back to full.

Then I managed to get his stamnia down again to much lower stamnia than the last time.

Then he managed to get another sodding mushroom which boosts his stamnia back to full again.

Then I managed to get his stamnia down to much identical low point.

Then guess what?

I lost it, just switched to a full auto rifle and fired at FEAR at a close range, killing him in one full health bar.

strawberry float you, Fear. strawberry float YOU.

I think the tactic I used to beat him was to chuck a load of gone off food around the area, then we he goes looking for stuff to eat he'll eat the stuff that you've left and rather than recharging him it actually takes off more stamina. You can adjust the clock on the playstation to quickly get food to go off (or you could on the PS2 away).
